Google has been making waves with Gemini recently pushing out updates quickly. They recently released an update for Chrome browser integrating it within the search bar. It released Gemini Live for Android users. And just today, Google has pushed a language update making Gemini Live support more than 40 languages. Not only that, you can set two languages at the same time.

Must Know: Did you know you can now create and manage events in Google Calendar right from the Gemini app? That’s right and it works pretty well.
Last week, Google made Gemini Live available to all Android users in 10 different voices, and now Google has upped the total number of supported languages to over 40. That will make Gemini more accessible to people who don’t speak English natively or can’t communicate with Gemini in English properly.
Converse With Gemini Live in Two Languages
But what is really cool is that Google Gemini supports two languages at the same time on the same device. This is useful for those who are multi-lingual, work in a field that requires translation or transcription, or have an SO who speaks a different native tongue. Simply invoke a conversation with Gemini Live and begin talking in one of the two selected languages. You can now begin your chat with Gemini Live in one language and then switch mid-conversation to another language.
Must Read: Paid users can now create and use the Google Gemini Gems feature that is similar to how GPTs work on ChatGPT. A dedicated chatbot for different tasks. Here is how to create a custom Gem in Gemini.
Set Two Preferred Languages on Gemini Live
You can change your preferred language in Gemini easily.
- Open Google app on your smartphone and tap on your profile image at the top corner.
- Go to Settings > Google Assistant > Languages.
- The first language should be set in one of the listed languages.
- You can then set the second language from the entire list.
Google will also make more languages available for Gemini extensions that integrate with other Google apps like Keep and Calendar. But there is no timeline available at the moment.
Note 1: I expect the supported list of both first and second languages to get longer in the future.
Note 2: The dual language support is available to all users – free and paid.
