In a recent blog post, Google unveiled a fresh set of features for the Google Photos app. A big part of the update is focused on video editing. While Google has long prioritized photo editing, especially with tools like the new Magic Editor AI – it’s about time the video editing side got some attention too.
A redesigned UI is one of the first things you’ll spot in this update. Before, tons of small, unlabeled icons made it tricky to figure out what each option does. Let’s be real; some were easy to miss entirely. Thankfully, the new Google Photos update has simplified the UI. The icons are front and center, larger, and labeled. This change alone should make editing videos way more user-friendly. Plus, Google has fine-tuned the trim tool, so cutting down footage is even more precise now.
But that’s not all, Google didn’t just tweak old Photos features; they also added some exciting new ones:
- Auto Enhance: This tool automatically boosts colors and stabilizes your video with a single tap.
- Speed Control: Now, you can adjust your video’s speed easily, whether you want to speed things up or slow them down for that dramatic effect.
- Presets Tab: Google introduced a new tab packed with AI-powered video presets. These are designed to make video editing a breeze on both Android and iPhone. They can automatically trim videos, adjust lighting, control speed, or add effects like dynamic motion tracking or slow-mo with just a few taps.
As of now, we haven’t received the update on our Android smartphones, but it should roll out within the next week. Make sure to keep Google Photos updated so you can try out these new tools as soon as they’re available.
