Barely two weeks ago, Google sent out invites for the ‘Made by Google’ event on August 13 to unveil the new Pixel series hardware. Google’s teaser hints at new Pixel 9 phones. We will also see the new Pixel Watch 3, AI enhancements for Google Assistant, and other new hardware. Korean ET News suggests that Google will use Samsung’s M14 OLED technology-based screens in the Pixel 9 phones. Also, even Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 Pro series will sport those OLED screens.

This year, Google plans to hold the ‘Made by Google’ event to show off Pixel hardware early instead of the usual October-November months. Also, it will be the first time Google will use Samsung’s OLED displays. However, only the top models, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL, will sport the M14 OLED screen.

Note that the M in the M14 signifies the quality of materials used in an OLED panel, and the succeeding number refers to the technology’s generation. Last year, a UBI Research report stated that the M14 technology-based OLED panel will focus on efficiency and reduce overall power consumption. The report further stated that Apple plans to use the M14 panel for iPhones (iPhone 17 series), which can be expected in 2025 as well.

In September, Apple also plans to reveal its new iPhone 16 series lineup, and some models will feature Samsung’s M14 OLED panels. It’s safe to expect the M14 OLEDs to arrive with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models – mainly since Apple reserves top-tier features for the Pro series. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Plus might get an M12 OLED display, which is present in the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Essentially, Apple and Google will make the best of Samsung’s OLED screens in their flagship devices. It sounds odd since Samsung might not be the first to use those panels. At the same time, Samsung is also holding a Samsung Unpacked on July 10. But it’s too soon to expect the Galaxy S25 Ultra to take the stage since the Galaxy S24 Ultra debuted on January 31.

Currently, Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra sports an M13 OLED panel. It’s safe to assume that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature this new M14 OLED technology display. But when will it see the day of light? Only Samsung can tell us.
