We live in a Google world. There are so many Google apps that I use on a daily basis but few of them can be installed on my Windows computer. Chrome is one example but what about others? Google’s strategy has always been a web and mobile-first approach where you need a Chrome browser to access all apps but that is changing today. You can now install *some Google apps on your Windows PC including Google Play Games.
Google has announced Google Essentials via its blog. Essentials is designed to be a one-stop destination for all Google apps. Some of the apps include Photos and Messages. What I think you guys will like the most is the Google Play Games. Yup. You can now access and instantly play many Google Play Store games including user favorites like Clash of Clans, Subway Surfers, and more right from your desktop. No need for screen mirroring or Android emulators. No need to download and install apps.
Other utility apps that you can access via Essentials are Google Drive and One. However, note that productivity apps like Docs, Sheets, Forms, Calendar, etc. remain web-only and you will find that clicking on the link opens the app in a browser tab. These are just shortcuts and not full apps. Still, they do make it easier to access all Google apps in one handy place.
Essentials will first be available on HP Windows consumer and gaming brands: Spectre, Envy, Pavilion, OMEN, Victus, and HP Brand. After that, soon it will come to all OmniBook brands as well. It will come preinstalled which may make some users scream bloatware.
So just how much do you rely on Google?
