Here’s How You Can Change Instagram App Icon

by Kaushal

To celebrate the 10th anniversary, Instagram has hidden an easter egg in the app that lets you revisit the old icons Instagram used to have. Here’s how you can change the Instagram app.

Change the Instagram App Icon on your Smartphone

First, we’d make sure the Instagram app on your smartphone is updated to the latest version. This feature is available on the version 162.0. The following steps are similar on both Android and iOS devices. Go to the Play Store or the App Store and see if your Instagram app is updated or no.

Once you have verified that the app is up to date, open the Instagram app, and tap your Profile icon on the bottom right corner of the app. Now, tap the Hamburger button on the top right corner to open the menu.

Tap the Settings button to open the Settings page. You won’t find the option to change the app icon as it is hidden. You would need to swipe down from the top of the page.

As you swipe down you would notice some emojis on the top of the page, keep on swiping down until you see the hidden menu.

Viola, here you would find all the icons that Instagram has used officially and you get to choose which icon you want on your smartphone. The icons also show a date when the icons were first introduced. For example, I wanted to choose the Original icon. Tap the icon of your choice and that’s it.

Closing Words

This was a quick way to change the Instagram app icon on your smartphone. I for one, welcome this addition to the app and would like the feature to be permanent as iOS 14 is opening up its door towards Home Screen Customization. What do you think of this easter egg?
