There are 15 new Macs in development, including an M5 MacBook Pro. If you are thinking that you need to wait too long, well, the new M5-powered MacBooks are coming later this year.

Apple’s New M5 MacBook Pro To Launch Later This Year
According to a report by AppleInsider, Apple is looking to launch a new M5 MacBook Pro later this year. These are 15 different products that will be introduced over one year.
This includes the M5 chip, which will release later this year, and the M6, which will arrive in late 2026. The company has vast upgrade plans, including new MacBook, MacBook Pro, and even the Mac Pro.

With product identifier information, the report has revealed the timeline of which products to expect in the coming time. In late 2024, Apple first updated the MacBook Pro with M4, followed by the Mac Mini and the base MacBook.
So this year, we will first get the MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max. There will be four variants of the MacBook Pro, two each for the 14-inch and 16-inch models.
What Does M5 Offer?
The M5 Pro and M5 Max will have a “2.5D packaging” with separate designs for the GPU and CPU. This will improve production yields and thermal performance.
It will be based on TSMC’s SOIC-mH (System in Integrated Chips Molding Horizontals). The M5 Pro will be the first Apple chip to integrate different chips into one package.
Apple’s Plans For 2026 Mac Lineup
Interestingly, the report claims that we will see new M5 iPad Pro and M5 Apple Vision Pro alongside the M5 MacBook Pro. We will also see an update to the forgotten M5 Mac Pro before the end of 2025, which hasn’t received any updates since 2023.
Furthermore, new Mac Studios are also in development, possibly with an M5 Pro and M4 Ultra chip. Speaking of new Macs, the base MacBook will get its M5 update early next year, but it will be more of a spec bump with minor updates.
However, Apple Insider claims that the 2026 MacBook Pro will get a major redesign with a thinner and lighter chassis. It could pack an OLED panel with the new M6 Pro and M6 Max chip.
It will have a built-in modem, so users can use their MacBooks without a hotspot. The company also plans to unveil an affordable MacBook powered by an A18 chip, which currently powers the current-gen iPhone.
A budget MacBook could pave the way for a viable Chromebook competitor with Apple Intelligence features. Aggressive pricing could make the low-cost MacBook a runaway success.
