Instagram is back to testing another new feature. After the recent addition of the Friends tab, the Meta-owned company is working on a new Picks feature. It lets you find friends who share the same area of interest as you. This means you can finally find that one friend who is a DC fan, not a Marvel one. Here’s how Instagram Picks will work.

Instagram Picks App Lets You Find People With Shared Interests
Tipster Alessandro Paluzzi has revealed photos of the upcoming Instagram Picks feature. Similar to Instagram’s Notes feature, the Interests feature will be accessible in the DMs tab. Users will see a new icon pop up at the top of the inbox section, right next to the Notes feature.
Once you select the things you like, such as your favorite TV shows, books, songs, movies, and more, it will show up in the Interests tab. Instagram will then check for similar interests in your followers tab to help you find people with the same interests.

For instance, if you like Marvel movies, then you can find people from your friends list who are deeply invested in the MCU. Instagram has confirmed to Techcrunch that the feature is currently in the “internal prototype” stage.
The company recently added the new Friends tab in Reels, and it is now taking one step further with Picks. It could be a new way to know your friends better, especially about the things they like.
