How to Add Music/Song to Your Instagram Profile Bio

Instagram is rolling out a new feature where you guys can now add a song or any music to your profile bio. The song will be visible on your profile bio page and visitors to your profile can play that song. This means your profile is now more personalized than ever. You can show off what you are currently listening to, maybe a song that defines who you are and what you stand for, flaunt your taste in music or share that new indie song you discovered recently.

The feature is rolling out today but the idea itself isn’t new. Myspace used to allow users to add songs to their profile page back in the day. The steps are fairly simple too.

Pro Tip: Looking for Instagram Reel templates? Here is where to find it.

Add a Song to Instagram Profile Bio

Here’s how to add a song to your Instagram account bio.

  1. Open the Instagram app.
  2. Tap on your profile photo to go to your profile and tap on Edit profile option just below your bio.
  3. Tap on Music and then tap on + icon.
  4. Search for your favorite track or choose from trending recommendations.
  5. You can choose a fixed 30-second segment of the song to add to your profile. Doesn’t have to be the start or end of the song. You will find an option to select the clip.
  6. Save settings and the song should be visible on your profile. Tap on the music to play or pause it. You can also change or remove the song if you want once added.

You can’t increase or decease the duration of the song. It is set to 30 seconds by default. Also, your profile visitors can only hear the song if your profile is public and that includes your followers. Here’s what happens when you make your Instagram profile private or public.

The song will stay there until you either remove it or replace it with another song. Note that the song won’t play automatically when someone visits your profile. It has to be played/paused manually. I feel this is a good thing because otherwise, people might get annoyed. Imagine opening a profile only to listen to that weird track or song blasting through your phone’s speakers you don’t like, ruining your entire day.

To show off the feature, Instagram has partnered with Sabrina Carpenter, pop singer and actress, who has added her new song Taste to her profile. This is a new song that is yet to be released it seems. Just another use case of the feature. Show off your work, a teaser, before the full release.

Expect more people to add their favorite song to their profiles in the coming days as the feature rolls out and the word gets out. Till then, follow TechWiser and read the below article to learn something new.
