All iPhone 16 models come with a dedicated camera shutter button known as the Camera Control button. It is located on the right side of the iPhone towards the lower half. A bit difficult to reach depending on the iPhone model you got yourself and the size of your hands.
Camera Control button is touch sensitive which means it registers both light and hard presses. However, not everyone may like the touch sensitivity of the Camera Control button. You may have light or firmer hands and Apple gets it which is why they have a hidden accessibility setting to change the Camera Control button’s touch sensitivity or pressure level.
We have covered iPhone 16’s Camera Control gestures and pressure sensitivity in a separate guide but here is the low down.
- hard press to launch the camera app from anywhere including the lock screen
- once the camera app is open, light press once or twice to access a hidden menu where you will find zoom, exposure, depth, style
- swipe left and right to navigate
- hard press to click a photo and press and hold to record a video instantly

Change Pressure of Camera Control on iPhone 16
You can change the Camera Control button’s pressure if you are finding it difficult to engage it using light presses.
- Open Settings.
- Go to Accessibility.
- Tap on Camera Control under the Physical & Motor section.
- Select between Lighter and Firmer options.
You can test it right then and there without having to open the Camera app. Simply press the Camera Control button lightly or firmly (depending on the select option) and you will notice the camera button glow in blue color on-screen. That means your press has been registered.
Test different touch sensitivity levels for the Camera Control button and see if meets your requirements. One issue with the Camera Control button is that it can get activated when in your pocket. However, you can disable the Camera Control button if are not a fan of it or prefer using the on-screen menu instead.
