The One UI 7 Beta has landed, and it’s bringing a major design upgrade to Samsung Galaxy phones. The update introduces new customization options for app icons and widget styles, allowing for greater personalization than ever before.
Earlier, you’d either have to change the home and app screen grid size or use the Home Up Good Lock module to increase or decrease app icon sizes and hide their name labels. However, that’s now possible from the built-in settings in One UI 7.
Customize App and Widget Styles on One UI 7
Here’s how to do it:
- Open Settings on your Samsung Galaxy phone running One UI 7.
- Here, tap on Home screen.
- Choose App and widget styles.
- Here you’ll find the following customization options:
- App Size: This slider lets you change the app icon size on the home screen and app drawer. Sliding it to the left reduces the icon size while dragging it to the right increases the icon size.
- App Labels: Toggle on or off to show or hide app names under their icon. This only affects the home screen. The app drawer will still show all apps with their names beneath.
- Widget labels: Toggling it on will show names under featured widgets from Samsung and Google. Keep it off if you’d prefer to keep your home screen clean.

You can also access these options by long-pressing an empty area on your home screen and choosing Settings. Here, tap on App and widget styles to land on the very same menu.
Here’s how the app icons look with the slider set to small, default, and large size:
Previously, we saw rumors that One UI 7 would also bring a vertical app drawer and it is here as well. You can now sort your apps alphabetically in the app drawer to switch to the vertical layout.
As for additional customization options in Good Lock‘s Home Up module, the module itself isn’t opening for an unknown reason, so we’ll have to wait for the forthcoming beta updates for that particular feature.
