Delete Media Files on Whatsapp
Before getting started, make sure you are on the latest version of WhatsApp (2.20.206.4) and this option only works in WhatsApp, but not on the WhatsApp Bussiness App. To get started, open WhatsApp and go to settings. You can do that by clicking on the three-dot menu at the top right corner and then select the Settings option.
Once you are in Settings, select the option called “Storage and data” and then select the option “Manage Storage” where you can delete the files.
Here you find out how much storage WhatsApp is taking. This includes all WhatsApp data such as text messages, images, videos, and GIFs, etc. Underneath that, you also see categories such as ‘Files larger than 5 MB’, ‘Forwarded much time’. Tapping on them will open a new window with a list of photos and videos in that category. Just tap on then, now you can either select the files you want to delete or select the delete all option in the top right.
Once done selecting, click on the “Delete” icon in the top bar and click on ok.
Additionally, you can scroll down and select any group or contact to delete files from only that group or contact in a similar way that can come in handy to files from groups that are active and eat up all your storage.
Wrapping Up
using any third-party apps to delete Whatsapp Media cannot have such in-depth control to delete only from a group or delete the duplicate files you have sent multiple times. Thus, making the in-built option a better way to delete WhatsApp media files.
