Now, users can finally sign up for Sora and generate videos. The best part is that no special subscription is required. If you have subscribed to ChatGPT Plus or Pro plans, you can start generating videos and even download them.

While downloading videos you’ve created is straightforward, downloading videos from the Explore section—created by others—can be tricky. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to download videos from your library and offer workarounds for saving Explore section content.

How to Download Videos from Your Library

Downloading videos you’ve generated in Sora is simple:

  1. Navigate to your Library section on the Sora website.
  2. Open the video you’ve created in your Library.
  3. Click on the Download option at the top-right corner.

Remember that downloaded videos will include a watermark at the bottom-right corner if you are on a ChatGPT Plus subscription. You need a ChatGPT Pro subscription that costs $200/month to download videos without the watermark.

How to Download Videos from the Explore Section

Unlike your library, videos in the Explore section don’t have a direct download option. However, there are two effective methods to save these videos:

1. Using the Re-Cut or Remix Option

While you cannot download the video directly, you can use either the Re-cut or Remix options. With the Re-cut option, you can just trim one frame of the video, increase the resolution if you want, or even increase the length of the video. Once done, you can simply download the Re-cut video.

In case you want to make any changes to the existing video like removing a small object or adding something more, then you can the Remix option. It will keep the entire video the same and only make subtle changes according to your prompt. Once done, you can download the Remixed video.

Apart from that, you can also Storyboard option for more advanced control. Here’s how you can use these options and download the video.

  • Open the video from the Explore section – Featured or Recent.
  • Click on the Re-Cut or Remix option according to your need.
  • Make any necessary adjustments or keep it as is and then click on Create
  • Navigate to your Library and your video should be here with changes made.
  • Open the video and click on the Download button at the top right corner to download the video.

The only issue is this method will consume your credits depending on the video length, resolution, number of videos you have generated, and the changes you have made to the video.

2. Screen Recording

If you don’t want to use up your monthly quota for regenerating videos, your only option is to screen-record the video. Most smartphones and computers come with built-in screen recording tools that make this process easy.

  • Open the video in the Explore section.
  • Start your device’s screen recording feature. (Use Command + Shift + 5 on Mac or Windows + Alt + R on Windows.)
  • Play the video and let it record until the end.
  • Stop the recording and save the file to your device.

While this method avoids consuming your monthly quota, it may result in slightly lower video quality.
