We got our hands on the iPhone 16 series and they are lit. We have been running our regular benchmark and battery tests on them and the results are interesting. During our hands-on, we found some new text formatting options in the Messages app. Not only that, but you can also schedule messages on an iPhone running on iOS 18.

Text Formatting and Effects in iOS 18

iOS 18 brings several new features and enhancements with it and one of them is the ability to format text in new and interesting ways. Here is how it works.

  1. Open the Messages app.
  2. Select a contact and type your message.
  3. Now select the text and tap on the A icon on the right side. You can also select a part of the text to just format that. Select Text Effects from the menu for that.
  4. Select from the formatting options available.

You will see some standard formatting options like bold, italic, underline, and strikethrough. There are also some cool text effects below that. Note that these effects only work when you are sending messages from iPhone to iPhone and are not supported on RCS yet.

Schedule Messages Using Send Later in iOS 18

You can finally schedule messages in iPhones running iOS 18. Apple calls it Send Later. Here is how it works:

  1. Open Messages app.
  2. Select a contact and compose a message.
  3. Tap on the + Plus icon.
  4. Select Send Later.
  5. Set a date and time for the message.
  6. Tap on the set date and time above the text message box to change it or tap on the cross icon to cancel the schedule.

You can also edit the scheduled message to change the date and time or cancel scheduling.

Note: The Send Later feature is currently available to iMessage users only. It won’t work when sending messages from iPhone to Android even if both are using RCS.
