Discord has introduced a new avatar decorations profile. But you can only get one by purchasing it from the Discord shop or through a Nitro subscription—there are no free options. Additionally, you cannot create a custom decoration of your own.
However, there is a workaround: you can set free and custom decorations for you profile using a third-party app called Vencord, though there is a small catch. Your decorations will only be visible to people who have this app installed. So send a DM or share it on your channel.

Get Free and Custom Discord Avatar Decorations
This process can be divided into 3 parts:
- Installing Vencord
- Enabling Decor Plugin on Vencord
- Using Decor Plugin to Set Avatar Decorations
Step 1 – Installing Vencord App or Extension
First determine where you use Discord. If you use the Discord app then download the Vencord app for Windows, Mac, or Linux. If you use Discord in a web browser, download Vencord for Chrome or any other Chromium-based browser. As of now, Vencord is not available on Android and iOS, so you can change custom Avatar decorations on desktop only.
Install the Vencord Browser Extension:
Open Chrome Store and install the Vencord extension like any other browser extension.
How to Install the Vencord App on Your Desktop:
- Go to their download page and choose the installer for Windows, Mac, or Linux, depending on your platform.
- Download and install the Vencord installer.
- Open the installer, select the Stable option, and click Install. (If the Stable option is not visible, ensure that the Discord app is installed on your device.)
- You have now successfully installed the Vencord app on your desktop.
Step 2 – Enabling Decor Plugin on Vencord
- Open the Discord app or website and go to User Settings by clicking on the cog icon next to your username.
- Scroll down to the Vencord section and select Plugins. The Vencord section will only appear if you have installed the Vencord app as described above.
- Search for the Decor plugin and enable it.
- Discord will prompt you to restart the app or website for the plugin to work. Click on the Restart option.
- After restarting, go back to Discord > User Settings > Plugins and search for Decor. Click on the cog icon next to the Decor plugin.
- In the pop-up window, click on the Change Decorations button and then Authorize button. That’s it! you have now successfully enabled the Decor Plugin on Vencord.
Step 3 – Using Decor Plugin to Set Avatar Decorations
To set custom or free avatar decorations on Discord:
- Go to Discord > User Settings > Plugins and search for the Decor plugin. Then, click on the Cog icon next to the Decor plugin.
- Next, click the Change Decorations button.
- In the pop-up window, you will see a list of free decorations. Select one, click Apply, then Save and close.
- That’s it! You’ve successfully added a free avatar decoration on Discord. You can view it immediately on your profile.
If you’d prefer to add a custom avatar decoration:
- In the Decor plugin settings, click on the Change Decorations button.
- In the pop-up window, click on the Create button at the top.
- Upload your avatar decoration in PNG or APNG format. Once uploaded, click Submit for Review. Your submission will be reviewed by a moderator, and if it meets the guidelines, it will be approved within a few hours to a few days.
- Once approved, the custom avatar decoration will automatically appear on your profile.
And there you have it! With Vencord, you can personalize your Discord profile without spending a dime. While only other Vencord users will be able to see your custom decorations, it’s still a fun way to stand out among your friends and community.
