Samsung Galaxy phones offer plenty of home screen customizations. But there’s no default option to remove app names from the home screen. However, you don’t need a third-party launcher for this. Instead, use Samsung’s Good Lock app to hide those app icon labels. I will teach you how.
Remove App Icon Labels Using Good Lock
On Samsung phones, you can install the in-house developed Good Lock app, which offers different modules for customizing various aspects of your phone. We will use Home Up module to hide the text below app icons on your home and app screen. You can explore other useful Good Lock modules later.
1. Open the Galaxy Store on your phone and install the Good Lock app if you haven’t already.
2. Launch Good Lock and download the Home Up module. You’ll find it in the Make Up section.
3. Open Home Up, allow storage access, and enable it.
4. Then, tap Home Screen > App Icon Setting and turn it on.
5. Toggle off Show app icon label on home screen to hide app names from your home screen.
6. Similarly, toggle off Show app icon label on apps tray to hide app names from your app screen (app drawer).
You’ll notice that apps no longer display their names below them on the home screen and in the app drawer. You can further customize the icon size from the same settings page to your liking.
On One UI 6.0, the remove icon label option didn’t work for some users. Samsung addressed it in subsequent updates, so if you’re facing a similar problem, ensure both your phone’s software and the Home Up module are up-to-date. Good Lock app is available Samsung Store and not the Play Store.
Also, Good Lock may not be available in all regions. In that case, you can manually download the Home Up APK and then install either Nice Lock or Fine Lock from the Google Play Store. Both apps are simply wrappers for Good Lock modules and allow you to open Home Up from anywhere.
