Ever feel like Instagram just doesn’t get you anymore? You scroll through your feed, but it’s filled with random posts that don’t match your vibe. Maybe your interests have changed, or you clicked on one wrong Reel, and now your Explore page is a mess. If this sounds familiar, it’s time to hit reset on your Instagram recommendations.

What Happens When You Reset Suggested Content on Instagram
When you reset your Instagram recommendations, it clears all the content suggestions tailored to your past activity. Instagram will forget everything it learned from your likes, comments, and searches, including posts you marked as “Not Interested.” You’ll start fresh, and the algorithm will rebuild your suggestions based on your new activity.

However, this won’t delete any data. Your past comments, interactions, the accounts you follow, saved posts, and even your followers will stay the same. Only Instagram’s suggestions or recommendation algorithm will reset. So it will fetch new types of posts on the Explore page, Reels page, and even the Main feed.
Note: Resetting your suggested content can’t be undone, but your suggestions will become more personalized as you like, share, and interact on Instagram.
How to Reset Instagram Recommendations
Follow these steps to reset your Instagram suggestions:
- Open Instagram and tap your profile picture (bottom right).
- Tap the hamburger menu (top right) to open Settings.
- Scroll down to the What you see section and tap on Content Preferences option.
- Select Reset Suggested Content option and tap on Next.
- On the next page, unfollow accounts that no longer match your interests.
- Tap Reset Suggested Content and confirm.

Once done, Instagram will begin personalizing your feed from scratch. To get better recommendations moving forward, only engage with content you enjoy and mark posts you dislike as Not Interested from the three-dot menu. Also, only follow the type of accounts you want to get similar posts and reels. Now you’re ready to enjoy a refreshed Instagram experience that fits your vibe.
