So you bought the echo show 5? Great. The Echo Show series is a little different from its siblings, it has a touchscreen, which means you can use it not only to watch videos but also video call your family and friends. However, Unlike other Echo devices, you don’t need an Alexa app on your smartphone to set up the Echo Show. As long as you have a WiFi and 5 mins, your echo show will be up and running in no time. Let’s set up and register Amazon Echo Show.
Register your Echo Show
As the Echo Show comes equipped with an LCD screen, it makes sense that you should be able to set up the device standalone. Plugin the power adapter and wait for the Echo Show to boot up. Once it does, you’d see the Language page, first. Select the language of your choice by tapping the screen.
Next, you would be asked to connect to a Wi-Fi network, select your Wi-Fi name, and tap it.
Enter the correct password to the Wi-Fi network using the on-screen keyboard. Tap Connect, once done.
As you would have probably bought the Echo Show off Amazon, you’d need to enter the Amazon account credentials on the Echo Show to proceed. If you don’t have an account, follow this link to create one.
Your Echo Show would take some time to register and link with your account. Once that’s done, we just need to make some final adjustments and your Echo Show would be ready to go. It would prompt you to give your Echo Show a name, you can leave it as is.
To provide local weather, traffic, etc, Echo Show would need your Address. If you have shopped with Amazon before, it would pick that address automatically. Otherwise, you can give it a new address or even skip it for the time being.
Next, assign the Echo Show a place in your house. The most common groups include Living Rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, etc. You can give it a specific location around the house such as the Garage, or the porch.
Lastly, select a wallpaper for the screen and you’re done. You can even choose a custom picture from your phone and set it as a wallpaper on the Echo Show.
With the Echo Show connected to your Amazon account, you can simply trigger Alexa and ask stuff like the weather, the latest news, etc.
More you can change the photo background, clock, theme, etc by going to the settings from the Alexa app on your phone, or directly on the device. More on it soon.
