How to Unlock Lagiacrus Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds
Before you can hunt this lightning-fast water monster, you need to do a few things first. The game won’t let you fight it without checking these boxes. First, you need to be Hunter Rank 31 or higher. If you are still working through the lower ranks, keep doing hunts and main missions until you reach this level. You also need to finish the main mission called “A World Turned Upside Down.” This is part of the main story, so you can’t miss it if you’re going through normally.

Moreover, you also need to complete a side mission called “Forest Doshaguma” for Erik. You will find this mission in the Scarlet Forest area. Erik will ask you to deal with a Forest Doshaguma, which is basically a stronger version of the regular Doshaguma you’ve fought before. The Forest Doshaguma hits way harder and will attack you differently. However, if you’ve made it to Hunter Rank 31, you should be able to handle it.
Starting the Lagiacrus Quest in Monster Hunter Wilds
Here’s something that gets a bit confusing for a lot of players. Even after you beat Erik’s Forest Doshaguma mission, the Lagiacrus quest might not show up right away. This is normal. What you need to do is reset the Scarlet Forest area to make the quest appear. Just go to your tent and sleep for a bit, or just leave the area completely and come back. Once you do this, the quest should be there.

When you log back in after doing everything, Alma will mention that Erik wants to talk to you in the Scarlet Forest. This is your sign that the Lagiacrus quest is ready to go.
How to Fight Lagiacrus
Find Erik in the Scarlet Forest and talk to him. He will tell you about a Rathalos that’s been causing problems in the forest. This chat will unlock the mission called “Extra Mission 2: Trembling Blue Currents.” You will need to follow some Rathalos tracks, which will lead you to your real target.

When you finally meet Lagiacrus, you’re in for a treat. This classic monster is fast, mean, and loves to use lightning attacks. It moves differently than most monsters you’ve fought so far, especially when it gets near water.
One important thing to remember is that you need to capture Lagiacrus, not kill it. This is different from most hunts, where you can choose to either capture or kill your target. For this quest, capturing is required. Make sure to bring Tranq Bombs and Shock Traps with you. When it starts limping or going away to rest, that’s your signal to set up the capture.

Lagiacrus has some nasty lightning attacks that can stun you, so think about bringing Nulberries, too, to cure the thunderblight status. The monster is also surprisingly quick both in and out of water, so don’t expect to just stay in one spot.

Lagiacrus Quest Rewards in Monster Hunter Wilds
Once you have successfully captured Lagiacrus, it will give you the rewards. This monster drops materials you can use to craft some really good weapons and armor pieces, such as:
- Lagiacrus Claw (18%)
- Lagiacrus Hide (22%)
- Lagiacrus Scale (20%)
- Lagiacrus Shockspike (15%)
- Lagiacrus Horn (8%)
- Lagiacrus Tail (8%)
- Lagiacrus Certificate S (8%)
- Lagiacrus Sapphire (1%)

The weapons you can make from Lagiacrus materials are really good, too. They have decent raw damage with high thunder element, making them useful against monsters weak to lightning. I also feel they just look so beautiful with the blue and yellow color combination.
Getting to fight Lagiacrus takes some patience, but it’s worth the work. Make sure you’ve done all the requirements before getting frustrated about the quest not showing up. Good luck hunting the Leviathan!
