  • WhatsApp has again released a new feature. You can use background and filters in video calls.
  • You get 10 backgrounds and 10 filters for now but Meta may increase the list or allow using custom ones in the future hopefully.

Meta has pushed yet another update to WhatsApp. The popular messaging app has received a ton of features in the last few months. The latest in line is the ability to add backgrounds and filters while you are on a video call with friends, family, and colleagues.

For now, you will receive 10 backgrounds and 10 filters. However, the feature is not new and has been available on so many video calling apps like Zoom. In fact, even iMessage got the feature to add background and filters with macOS Sequoia.

There were rumors that WhatsApp will add AR video call effects and filters soon. The feature has finally been released and is rolling out as we speak. Ensure that you are running the latest version of WhatsApp on your Android and iPhones.

Other features include Touch Up and Low Light options were also added as we discussed in our last post.

Filter options include:

  • Warm
  • Cool
  • Black & White
  • Light leak
  • Dreamy
  • Prism light
  • Fisheye
