iOS 18.2 Beta 3 is here. There are some small changes under the hood that impacts how you use your iPhone as a daily driver. One of the updates brings a much-requested Camera Control feature to the forefront. Let’s quickly go through them.

1. Disable Screen on Requirement for Camera Control

Apple has added a new hardware button to the iPhone 16 series – Camera Control. Pressing it once opens the Camera app. You can then use gestures to navigate the menu and single/double tap the Camera Control button to take photos, record videos, or navigate the UI.

Camera Control button also works on the lock screen. However, users have been complaining about accidental presses where the Camera app is launched even when the screen is off. iOS 18.2 Beta 3 adds a new feature enabling. which will require the screen to be turned on before you can launch the Camera app using the Camera Control button. Here’s a short guide on how to enable ‘screen on requirement’ for Camera Control button.

Popular X handle Beta Handle has shared a video that shows how it looks.

3. New CarPlay Icons

CarPlay has new icons. Aaron Perris shares the new Media and Climate app icons for the next generation of CarPlay.

Apple is planning to release the iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, ‌macOS Sequoia‌ 15.2, and watchOS 11.2 early next month.

There are a couple of AI features that Apple is preparing to release with the iOS 18.2 update which includes Image Playground, Image Wand, Genmoji, ChatGPT integration with Siri, Visual Intelligence, Writing Tools, and more.
