Apple has released the much-awaited iOS 18 at its WWDC 2024 keynote event. iOS 18 is one of the biggest iOS overhauls in recent times, featuring new home screen customization options, Apple Intelligence, improved Siri, iPhone Mirroring, refreshed Photos app, and much more. Here’s the complete list of iPhones that will receive the iOS 18 update.
iOS 18 Supported Devices
Apple has already released the iOS 18 developer beta, allowing users to try new features. However, Apple Intelligence features are not yet included, as they are expected to arrive this fall.
Typically, iPhones receive updates for about five years from their release date. Each year, some older models are dropped from the list of supported devices. However, Apple has occasionally extended support beyond that timeframe for certain models.
Last year, the iPhone XR and newer devices received the iOS 17 update. Given that the iPhone XR has completed its usual update cycle, we expected it to be dropped this time. Interestingly, it is still supported for iOS 18.
Here’s the full list of iPhone models that can install iOS 18:
- iPhone 15, 15 Plus
- iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 14, 14 Plus
- iPhone 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max

Note: Of the devices listed above, only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will get Apple Intelligence (AI) features.
Later this year, Apple will release its new iPhone 16 lineup, which will ship with iOS 18 pre-installed. As per the latest rumors, Apple is expected to launch iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, and iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models, continuing the current naming scheme.
How to Install iOS 18 Developer Beta
iOS 18 is currently available as a Developer Beta, with the Public Beta expected in July. Keep in mind that the Developer Beta may contain bugs and glitches. If you’re comfortable with potential issues or have a spare iPhone, you can download and test it.
To install the iOS 18 Developer Beta, enroll yourself in Apple’s Developer program first. Then go to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates, and select iOS 18 Developer Beta. Install the update once it’s available. I recommend backing your iPhone before updating to ensure you can roll back to iOS 17 without losing your data.
If the option isn’t available, ensure that your iPhone is running the latest software and that you are enrolled in the Apple Developer Program. You can also manually install the iOS 18 beta from Finder or iTunes using the restore files from Apple.
Our team has installed the first Developer Beta on iPhone 13, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro and hasn’t encountered any major bugs or usability issues so far.
