Pressing the Camera Control button on any screen will launch the Camera app on the new iPhone 16 series. It works on any screen including when your iPhone 16 is locked. However, if you are not a big fan of the Camera Control button and prefer to use the onscreen menu instead, you can still put it to good use. Here’s how to reset the Camera Control button to launch the magnifier or QR code scanner.

Use Camera Control Button to Launch QR Code Scanner or Magnifier

Here are some examples where each function may be of use to you:

  • QR Code Scanner: You work in a warehouse and receive lots of parcels on behalf of your office, work in the delivery sector, and need to scan QR codes day in and day out. Other examples include inventory tags, payments gateway sector, restaurant menu, etc.
  • Magnifier: Useful if you are hard of eyesight and have difficulty reading text written in small fonts like in restaurant menus, magazines, food and grocery packs, medicines, etc.

The steps are simple enough and you can change it any time you need.

  1. Open Settings app.
  2. Go to Camera option.
  3. Select Camera Control.
  4. Select Code Scanner or Magnifier from the given options.

Here is how the QR code scanner and Magnifier UI looks on the iPhone 16 series.

Don’t like the Camera Control button at all? You can easily disable the Camera Control button so pressing it doesn’t do anything. No more accidental presses when the iPhone is in your pocket or on the sofa and the kid is using it as a stress buster.
