- A new report reveals that the company wants to shake up the design for the iPhone 20th Anniversary.
- This upcoming iPhone model will launch next year with an under-display camera and edge-to-edge screen.
Apple’s iPhone lineup has remained largely unchanged, with the same old glass and aluminium design. However, the Cupertino giant is planning a major shakeup for the 20th anniversary of the iPhone. Apple is also working on a foldable iPhone in addition to models without Face ID, so 2028 seems to be an exciting year for iPhone fans.

Apple Is Working On An All-Glass iPhone With A Curved Screen
In his weekly Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has revealed that Apple is developing a “mostly glass, curved iPhone”. Interestingly, this upcoming iPhone will not have “any cutouts,” meaning it will sport an under-display camera.
This aligns with previous rumours that Apple is planning to switch to an under-display camera for Face ID. It could make it the first iPhone without any Dynamic Island or Notch.

The last time Apple overhauled the design of the iPhone was 10 years ago at the launch of the iPhone X. With the iPhone 18, Apple wants to test the water with a curved screen and no cutouts.
It also aligns with previous reports that claim Apple is planning to get rid of Dynamic Island for an edge-to-edge experience. However, it did not mention details about a curved screen, which would be a first for Apple.
Gurman’s prediction for “mostly glass” iPhone seems intriguing since the current iPhone models are mainly made of glass. Apart from the Titanium chassis and metal around the lens, the rest of the material is made up of glass.
Maybe Apple could return to its roots with a design reminiscent of the iPhone 4. We could also see an iPhone with a glass back that curves into the screen for a seamless and ergonomic feel.
The company will also unveil its first foldable iPhone, which will have an invisible crease screen. It will also be the most expensive iPhone to date, which is saying something, seeing how expensive phones have become already.
Gurman also says that Apple is planning to launch its Meta Ray-Ban competitor next year, apart from AirPods and Watches with a camera. So, 2028 seems like the year Apple will get back to its innovative phase.
