- Apple is planning to launch its AI Smart Glasses at the end of next year.
- These glasses will have cameras, microphones, and speakers.
- It can handle phone calls, music playback, and more tasks.
Smart glasses are quickly becoming the next big thing in tech, with companies like Meta already gaining traction through their Ray-Ban collaboration. Now, Apple is getting ready to enter the race. According to recent reports, the company is actively working on its pair of smart glasses, which could directly challenge Meta’s growing dominance in the AI-powered wearables market.

According to a recent Bloomberg report, Apple is planning to release its first pair of smart glasses by the end of 2026. The company is speeding up the development and will start mass-producing prototypes later this year. These glasses will be a part of Apple’s push into AI-powered gadgets and are expected to compete directly with Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses.
Apple was also working on a camera-equipped Apple Watch and Watch Ultra, but that got shut down this week, as said by Bloomberg. However, the company continues to work on AirPods with cameras.
What Apple Is Bringing with Its Smart Glasses
Apple’s upcoming smart glasses won’t just be regular glasses with a camera. They’re aiming to offer AI-powered features that might perform better than they did with Apple Intelligence. While the final design is still not clear, here’s what we know so far:
- Built-in Cameras & Microphones – For capturing the world around you and enabling real-time analysis.
- Siri Integration – You’ll be able to talk to Siri directly through the glasses for voice commands and help.
- Speakers for Audio Output – Listen to music, take calls, or hear translations without needing earbuds.
- Live Translations – Possible real-time language translation when you’re traveling or talking to someone.
- Navigation Features – Get turn-by-turn directions right in your line of sight.
- Phone Call & Music Support – Answer calls and control your music without pulling out your iPhone.
- AI Capabilities – Designed to work with Apple Intelligence and potentially its future LLMs for smarter interactions.
These features put the smart glasses in direct competition with Meta’s Ray-Ban lineup, but knowing Apple, we can expect better build quality and tighter ecosystem integration. And obviously, higher pricing!
Competition for Apple’s Smart Glasses
Apple isn’t entering the smart glasses market alone. Google just revealed that it’s working on developing AI smart glasses with other Companies built on its Android XR platform.
Meanwhile, Samsung is reportedly planning to launch its first Android-powered smart glasses, codenamed Haean, later this year, right alongside its mixed-reality headset Project Moohan. These Haean smart glasses are expected to be powered by AI with features like gesture control, facial recognition, and integration with Google’s Gemini assistant.
Alongside, Meta is also working on its $1,000 Smart Glasses with a Screen where you can see notifications and other stuff on your glasses. So, if Apple is aiming to dominate this space, it’ll be going head-to-head with some serious competition.
The new smart glasses are being developed by Apple’s Vision Products Group, the same team behind the Vision Pro headset. It’ll be interesting to see how Apple manages to pack all the features into a lightweight and comfortable design, unlike the bulky Vision Pro. Stay tuned for future updates.
