Apple is probably one of the few companies that has yet to manufacture a foldable phone. However, this is soon set to change as Apple’s first foldable iPhone will enter production this year. Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo has shared some valuable insights about the journey of the upcoming iPhone models.

Foldable iPhone to Enter Production Soon.
Analyst Ming Chi Kuo has predicted that Apple’s foldable iPhone will enter production this year. Apple will start manufacturing the iPhone in late September or October of this year.
However, don’t get your hopes too high as the foldable iPhone will debut in late 2026. The Cupertino giant is likely to introduce its foldable iPhone alongside the iPhone 18 series.
Kuo says many internal components of the foldable iPhone, including its hinge, are yet to be finalized. This is rather interesting given that it’s only a few months away from entering production.

Components such as the display have been finalized and will be manufactured by Samsung Display (SDC). The company plans to build production capacity for 7-8 million foldable panels for the upcoming iPhone.
However, Kuo believes that most of the production will be completed this year, and the remaining production in 2026 will only last a few months. Interestingly, Apple has placed an order for 15-20 million foldable iPhones based on the demand.
Expected Features And Price
The foldable iPhone will have a 5.5-inch cover screen and a massive 7.8-inch screen when open. Moreover, it will be similar to the Galaxy Fold series with a book-style design.
Apple has also made the crease minimal for a smooth experience, and you also get under-display cameras on the device. Furthermore, it will be the first iPhone to use Touch ID in recent years instead of Face ID.
Furthermore, the folding iPhone will have multimodal features, a dual camera setup, and a hinge made from stainless steel. It will have high-density battery cells just like the upcoming iPhone 17 Air.
It will have a thickness of 4.5mm when unfolded and 9-9.5 mm when folded. Moreover, the foldable iPhone will have a price tag between $2000 to $3000, making it the most expensive iPhone.
Apple’s foldable iPhone will enter production in H2 2026, with units expected to ship in 2026, going all the way to 2027. Kuo states these plans are subject to change as Apple focuses on making a niche device rather than a mass market one.
