While playing the original Red Dead Redemption on Twitch, Wiethoff got really excited about something he couldn’t share yet. He said he has “such exciting news” and it’s “absolutely killing him” to keep it secret.

Here is what he told his viewers:

“I can’t share it with you right now, and it’s absolutely killing me. By the end of this week, hopefully sooner, you’re going to – not this week, I guess, probably not as soon as tomorrow, but definitely before Friday. Oh my goodness, the news that I have to share, and I won’t be the only one sharing it.

So the news won’t come tomorrow, but it’s definitely happening before Friday. He kept saying he can’t think about anything else while playing the game. That’s a pretty big clue that this Red Dead Redemption 2 news is something special. You don’t get that excited about just any random announcement.

What This Could Be About

Most people think we’re getting a proper next-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2. Right now, if you play it on PS5 or Xbox Series X, it’s just the old version running through backward compatibility. That means you’re stuck with 30 FPS and not-so-great graphics. A real next-gen update would give us:

  • 60 FPS gameplay, so everything runs smoother.
  • Better graphics that actually use your console’s power.
  • Faster loading times with modern SSDs.
  • 4K resolution that looks crisp on a big TV.

Recent rumors say this version is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and maybe even Nintendo Switch 2.

While a next-gen upgrade seems most likely, there are other possibilities. Maybe we’re getting Undead Nightmare 2, or even news about a Red Dead TV show. Hollywood loves making video game adaptations these days. Some fans are hoping for Red Dead Redemption 3 news, but that’s probably wishful thinking. Rockstar is busy with GTA 6 right now, so they’re not likely working on another huge game.

If you’ve been waiting to jump back into Arthur Morgan’s story, this week might give you the perfect reason. A proper next-gen version would make the game look and feel better than ever. Keep checking back this week, whatever Rockstar has planned, Rob Wiethoff sounds pretty confident that fans are going to love it!
