After a year-long wait, One Piece anime has finally adapted one of the most anticipated fight of the Egghead Island arc, Luffy vs Kizaru. Episode 1125 shared a glimpse of their fight, which will continue in the next episode. Fans have been waiting for round 2 of their fight since the Sabaody Archipelago arc.

Unlike last time, Luffy has grown a whole lot stronger since their first encounter. So, it would be a heck of a fight between a Yonkai and an Admiral. However, since their fight has already been concluded in the manga, we can break down the details and settle the debate: who is stronger between Monkey D. Luffy and Admiral Kizaru?
How Strong is Admiral Kizaru?

Borsalino, better known as Kizaru, is the most relaxed and most intimidating character in the entire world of One Piece. He ate the Pika Pika no Mi, one of the Logia-type Devil Fruits, which gave him the ability to become light.
This allows him to move at light speed, fire laser blasts powerful enough to demolish buildings, and turn invisible by transforming his body into light. In battle, this makes him nearly invincible.
Aside from his Devil Fruit, Kizaru is also a master of Haki usage. He’s just as capable of using Observation Haki and Armament Haki, which makes him more lethal with his already overpowered skill set. What is threatening about Kizaru is not his speed or power, but how he uses them. His style of fighting is loose but calculated.

Kizaru’s fight in battles such as the Sabaody Archipelago case or the Marineford War showcased how superior he is. From defeating Supernovas in a second to fighting legends such as Rayleigh, Kizaru has consistently shown superiority over his foes.
Even after all these years, Kizaru is still one of the Marines’ best assets. His light-speed speed, combat tactics, and sheer raw power make him nearly indestructible and a symbol of the World Government on the high seas.
How Strong is Monkey D. Luffy?

Luffy’s journey started with the power of the Gomu Gomu no Mi, originally thought to be a simple Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that rubberized his body. He used this power for his signature stretch attacks and blunt trauma resistance.
But over time, he mastered his Devil Fruit to the maximum. Skills such as Gear 2 accelerated his blood circulation, which made him stronger and faster, while Gear 3 allowed him to inflate his arms with air to deliver huge blows.
But the actual game-changer was Gear 4, when he paired his rubber body with Armament Haki to make him a human cannonball of horrific power as well as uncontrollable air mobility. Luffy’s use of Observation Haki evolved to the extent that he could observe glimpses of the future in short, making him a nightmare to pin down in combat.

And then there was the ultimate twist of them all, the reveal that his Devil Fruit was not Gomu Gomu no Mi after all. It was in fact the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, a Mythical Zoan-type fruit.
This opened up Gear 5, a mode that allows Luffy to fight with complete freedom and imagination, warping his environment and even the enemies he fights into cartoon playgrounds while still unleashing god-level attacks. His combat in Gear 5 is not bound by physics or logic, allowing him to warp reality itself in combat. He showed how powerful and deadly his Gear 5 is in his fight with Kaido in the Wano arc.

Aside from his Devil Fruit, Luffy also has three types of Haki: Observation, Armament, and the most difficult of the three, Conqueror’s Haki. His application of Conqueror’s Haki is so precise that he can layer it over his attacks, making him able to cut through the strongest defenses and engage Yonko-level fighters on equal footing.
All this hard work and determination have made Luffy what he is today, one of the Emperors of the Sea. He will grow stronger with time to eventually become the King of the Pirates.
Monkey D. Luffy vs Admiral Kizaru – Who Is Stronger

When it comes to the debate of who is stronger between Monkey D. Luffy and Admiral Kizaru, the answer isn’t quite as black and white as some would have you believe. Luffy is by far the stronger character overall, as he’s come a long way since Wano, both in raw power and Haki mastery, particularly at Gear 5 and Advanced Conqueror’s Haki.
But “massively stronger” is a overstatement, and the Egghead Island fight is proof of that. Kizaru, with his incredible speed and experience, outplays Luffy in their battle. He didn’t use raw brute force, but rather clever tactics, and he took advantage of Luffy’s biggest weakness, his stamina.

Throughout the battle, Kizaru dodged most of Luffy’s attacks and waited for the best opportunities by letting Luffy burn all of his energy until he was completely drained. Kizaru’s ability to dodge and absorb attacks, including Gear 5 attacks, is proof that he’s more than capable of holding his own against a Yonko-level opponent.
In fact, Luffy never even managed to land a clean, guarded blow on Kizaru, which gives a fair argument that if the two were in a straight-up one-on-one, Kizaru could wear Luffy out and take the win.

While some fans argue whether Luffy used Advanced Conqueror’s Haki (ACoC) during the battle, the more logical position is that he did, particularly since not doing so, when Vegapunk’s life was on the line, would imply that Luffy was negligent, which is not in his character.
Kizaru also handled Luffy’s attacks better than Luffy handled dishing them out, recovering more quickly and walking away with minimal lasting damage. The battle on Egghead showed that Luffy probably won that fight, but Kizaru has done enough to prove he’s not far behind, and in good conditions, the fight could go either way. Both of the characters are monsters, and Kizaru deserves the respect of being Yonko-tier.
