According to Skydance’s official statement, “Taking this additional time will allow us to add more polish, and make sure we give you the best possible experience, and one that lives up to our vision.” The studio originally aimed for a 2025 launch but stated that the extra time will help ensure the game meets its quality standards. It is actually another delay for the title first announced back in 2022.

Some industry analysts believe this timing might help the game avoid direct competition with Grand Theft Auto 6, which is set for a May 2026 release. Fan reactions to the delay have been mixed. Some players shared their disappointment about not getting to play the game in 2025, while others were more understanding, encouraging the studio to take the time needed to deliver a better experience, especially after past letdowns like Marvel’s Avengers.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Game Details and Story

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra follows a strong premise. Captain America (Steve Rogers) teams up with the World War II-era Black Panther, Azzuri (T’Challa’s grandfather), in Nazi-occupied Paris. The game also features two additional playable characters: Nanali, a Wakandan spy based in Paris, and Gabriel Jones, a U.S. soldier member of the Howling Commandos.

The story will center on these four heroes who must overcome their differences and form an alliance to defeat Hydra. According to story trailers, Captain America and Black Panther don’t immediately get along, creating an interesting tension between the heroes.

Voice Cast and Development

The game actually features an impressive voice cast, such as:

  • Drew Moerlein as Steve Rogers / Captain America.
  • Khary Payton as Azzuri / Black Panther.
  • Megalyn Echikunwoke as Nanali.
  • Marque Richardson as Gabriel Jones.
  • Lyne Renée as Julie.
  • Joel Johnstone as Howard Stark.

Amy Hennig, known for creating the Uncharted series, is leading the game’s development. The game uses Unreal Engine 5 and MetaHuman Animator for realistic facial animations. Grammy Award-winning Stephen Barton (Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Apex Legends) is composing the score.

When it finally arrives in early 2026, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. First announced in 2022, this delay adds another year to the four-year development process. While waiting, fans can look forward to other upcoming Marvel games, including titles featuring Blade, Iron Man, and Black Panther from different studios.
