Season 2.5 is coming in 6 days, and it’s full of new stuff that will keep you busy for weeks. You can now play as Ultron or check out the Martian map of Arakko!
New Content
The May 30 update introduces so many new contests:
New Hero
Ultron is now a playable hero in Marvel Rivals. Known for his goal to wipe out humanity, he brings high-tech weapons and strong robotic powers to the fight.
New Map: Hellfire Gala – Arakko
A new Convoy map set on Mars is here. Called Hellfire Gala: Arakko, it ties into the story where X-Tron escapes after merging with Cerebro. The map features moving objectives and demands strong teamwork. Its alien terrain and mutant magic give it a unique look and feel.
Season Event: Cerebro Database II
A new event runs from May 30th until June 27th, 2025, and gives players a full month to join in. By completing Cerebro Database II event challenges, you can unlock the free Hawkeye Binary Arrow costume. The outfit seems to have a high-tech look, with glowing parts and advanced gear. Like past events, expect daily and weekly tasks that push you to try new heroes and game modes while working toward the reward.
Twitch Drops
Twitch Drops are back from May 30th to June 27th, 2025. Watch Marvel Rivals streams on Twitch to unlock the Emma Frost Will of Galacta costume and bundle. To earn it, link your Twitch and Marvel Rivals accounts, then watch eligible streams to track your progress and claim the rewards.
New Additions and Adjustments
- Mood System: Add icons to your nameplate to show how you’re feeling during matches.
- Emoji System: Use bubble emojis in combat or menus for quick communication.
- Team Recommendation: Suggests hero picks in the lobby to help build a better team.
- Visual Improvements:
- Updated nameplate layouts for clearer display.
- Hero selection wheel now shows your Lord avatar.
- Improved Career System with more stats and custom options.
- Ranked Rewards:
- Reach Gold to unlock the Golden Ultron skin.
- New Crests of Honor for Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and Top 500 players.

Four new items hit the store with this update:

Combat Chest
The new Combat Chest system runs from May 30th to July 11th, 2025, and works like a battle pass. Play matches to earn XP and unlock rewards like skins, emojis, and mood icons. A Premium version is also available, offering extra rewards and no time limit once unlocked, so you can keep progressing even after the event ends.
Tournament Rooms and Custom Game
- Room Management:
- Copy room names and passwords for easy sharing.
- “Host Only” move control for better player management.
- Hosts can instantly end matches when needed.
- Ban/Pick Phase:
- Captain icons show who’s making picks.
- Captains can right-click to let teammates handle bans.
- Auto-Select Server:
- Tests a feature that picks the best server for both teams to reduce lag.
Spectator System
- Toggle character outlines, health bars, and player names for a cleaner view.
- Turn on free-cam collision to keep the camera from passing through walls.
Platform-Specific Features
- PC: New Performance Test in Display Settings checks your hardware to help optimize game settings.
- Console: Improved cursor snapping in hero selection for faster, more accurate picks.
Fixes and Optimization
As always, the update addresses numerous gameplay issues:

- Fixed shortcut key issues for sprays and emotes on first launch.

Heroes

To get the Season 2.5 update, just start the game on or after May 30th, 2025, at 09:00 UTC. The update will download automatically with no server downtime, so you can play right away. If you’re already in the game when the update comes out, restart it to apply the changes. Make sure you have enough storage space and a good internet connection since the update is bigger than usual.
