Marvel Rivals is about to get way bigger with Season 3. NetEase has just released Marvel Rivals Dev Vision Vol 07, and the devs are switching things up with shorter two-month seasons, which means you’ll get new heroes and updates much faster. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s coming.

Marvel Rivals Dev Vision Vol 07: Phoenix Officially Comes to Season 3

The story picks up with Knull, the bad guy who controls symbiotes, finally breaking free. He’s working with Hela to mess things up. That’s where Phoenix comes in as the new hero to save the day. Phoenix is a ranged Duelist who plays differently from everyone else.

She has this cool trend reaction mechanic that makes her super fun to use. You can either go straight at the grouped enemies or sneak around the side to mess up their team. Her ultimate, where she merges with Phoenix Force, doesn’t just do lots of damage. It also gets rid of all enemy summons on the map.

So if you’re tired of dealing with Iron Man’s drones or Squirrel Girl’s squirrels, Phoenix has your back. Blade is also coming in Season 3.5, plus they’re adding a brand new competitive mode around that time too.

Four New Team-Up Abilities in Marvel Rivals Season 3

Season 3 brings four new team-ups and removes two old ones. Here is what you need to know about the new combinations:

HeroesTeam-Up Ability Name
Phoenix and WolverinePrimal Flame
Human Torch and Spider-ManEver-Burning Bond
Venom, Jeff the Land Shark, and HelaSymbiote Shenanigans
Iron Man, Ultron, and Squirrel GirlStark Protocol

Team-Up Abilities Being Removed

Two team-up abilities are getting completely removed in Season 3:

Major Balance Changes in Marvel Rivals Season 3

The devs looked at how everyone’s been playing and decided to change things up:

Vanguard Hero Adjustments

MR Emma FrostThe Thing Marvel Rivals
Emma FrostVenomThe Thing

Emma Frost is getting nerfed because her diamond form has been too strong. Venom and The Thing are getting buffed, so you have more tank options. The Thing gets this new move called Battle Blitz, where he can jump straight at any enemy and punch them with Stone Haymaker mid-air. Finally, tanks can deal with flying heroes better.

Duelist Hero Adjustments

Iron Man Marvel RivalsPunisher Marvel RivalsMister Fantastic Marvel Rivals

Namor Marvel RivalsScarlet Witch Marvel Rivals

Iron Man has been poking people too hard from far away, so he’s getting toned down a bit. The Punisher’s turret is too strong and his ultimate charges too fast, so he’s getting a small nerf. Mister Fantastic won’t be as tanky when he’s all stretched out, but Namor is getting buffs to his basic attack and Scarlet Witch’s ultimate.

Strategist Hero Adjustments

Invisible Woman Marvel Rivals

Adam Warlock Marvel RivalsMantis Marvel Rivals

The Guided Revival team-up (Adam Warlock and Mantis) is getting nerfed because it’s been too good. However, Mantis herself is getting better healing and ultimate for herself. Invisible Woman gets better healing, Loki’s ultimate takes longer to charge, and Ultron is getting nerfed because he’s been too good at everything.

Quality of Life Improvements

Season 3 makes the game way better to use:

Customization Options

You can now put accessories on your heroes. The first batch works with Winter Soldier, Psylocke, Groot, Loki, Rocket, Jeff the Shark, Invisible Woman, Emma Frost, and Spider-Man. You get points for playing matches and trade them for the accessories you want.

There’s also Ultimate VFX customization now. These are special visual effects that only you can see when you use abilities. Everyone else still sees the normal effects. You unlock these with Unstable Molecules.

Chroma color variants are coming to even more skins, too. These give you different color options for your favorite skins, so you can make your hero look exactly how you want. Based on the Marvel Rivals Dev Vision Vol 07 video, the color variants will be for Scarlet Witch, Rocket Raccoon, Jeff the Land Shark, and Invisible Woman.

Starting in Season 3, you can also earn Unstable Molecules through the battle pass and events, making it way easier to get all this customization stuff.

MVP and Costume Changes

In Season 3, you can mix and match MVP animations. Use any costume and put any MVP animation from that hero’s other costumes on it. Your team background also changes to match your costume now.

Menu Updates

They cleaned up the gallery by putting everything in one place. There’s a new page where you can watch all the map cutscenes whenever you want. Finding events is easier with a new event tab, and you can see your battle pass progress right after matches end.

Battle Pass and Mission Changes

The battle pass still has 10 costumes at the same price, but since seasons are shorter, you get more tokens to unlock stuff more easily. They also fixed the mission system. Weekly missions don’t disappear anymore. They stay there until the season ends, so you won’t miss out if you skip a week. You still have to do them in order, though. Season missions are new, too. These are challenges that last the whole season and give you more Chrono Tokens when you finish them.

Season 3 is a big deal for Marvel Rivals. Faster seasons mean more new stuff, but the game will also change more often. All the customization and menu improvements show that NetEase is actually listening to what players want. Being able to mix MVP animations and having missions that don’t disappear fixes some of the biggest complaints from before!
