Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Release Date and What To Expect

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Release Date

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 update is set to release on May 30th, 2025. This follows the typical pattern of mid-season updates arriving about six to seven weeks after each major season begins. You still have a week to finish your Season 2 goals before the new content arrives. Just remember, the update might go live at different times depending on where you live and which server you’re on.

What to Expect in Marvel Rivals Season 2.5

Here are the upcoming contents you can expect in Marvel Rivals Season 2.5:

Ultron Joins as the New Strategist Hero

The highlight of Season 2.5 update is definitely Ultron making his debut as a playable character. This iconic Marvel villain brings something completely new to the Strategist role with his ability to fly. If you’ve been waiting for a support hero who can keep up with flying teammates like Iron Man or Storm, Ultron is exactly what you need.

Ultron’s Complete Ability Kit

Leaked info shows that Ultron’s abilities focus on flying and using drones. His main attack, the Encephalo-Ray, is a steady energy beam that deals constant damage. The Dynamic Flight skill lets him move fast and switch to free-flying mode, making it easy to follow teammates into tough spots while staying above the fight. His passive, Algorithm Correction, also helps by letting him fall slowly when holding the space bar.

For healing, Ultron uses the Imperative: Patch ability, which commands a giant drone to follow one of your allies. This drone constantly heals everyone within its radius, with extra healing for the marked teammate. Meaning, you don’t need to babysit your team constantly. The drone will do the work for you.

His Imperative: Firewall ability summons drones that give bonus health to allies within range, centered on both you and whoever has your patch drone. Finally, his ultimate Rage of Ultron brings out multiple Ultron drones that fire energy beams, damaging enemies while healing your team simultaneously.

New Arakko Map Brings Convoy Mode Action

Season 2.5 introduces Arakko as the newest battleground. This map draws inspiration from X-Men lore, serving as the sibling island to the existing Krakoa map. The new map is designed to change your strategy compared to other Convoy maps. The detailed layout and new paths give you more chances to set up ambushes, sneak around enemies, and take control of important spots while moving the payload.

Hero Balance Changes Coming

Every big update brings balance adjustments, and Season 2.5 is no exception. Black Widow, Jeff the Land Shark, Mister Fantastic, Peni Parker, Rocket Raccoon, and Scarlet Witch are all getting tweaks that could significantly impact their effectiveness.

Some notable changes include making Groot and Captain America slightly easier to eliminate by reducing their survivability. Doctor Strange gets a buff with his ultimate, requiring less energy to charge. Spider-Man’s Amazing Combo will have reduced damage range, while Winter Soldier receives small buffs to both his Tainted Voltage and Team-Up abilities.

Perhaps most importantly, the biggest change is that all Strategist heroes are getting a damage boost. This should make support characters more dangerous in fights, giving you more ways to build your team and making enemies think twice before going after healers.

New Skins and Customization

Season 2.5 won’t just change gameplay, it will surely bring fresh cosmetic options too. You’ll likely see new skins inspired by Infinity Comics, including new looks for Doctor Strange, Magik, Iron Fist, and other popular heroes. The Squirrel Sunshine skin already gave us a preview of what to expect from this comic-inspired collection.

Additionally, Marvel Rivals is also getting new summer-themed swimsuit skins as part of the Marvel Comics Swimsuit Special. We can see swimsuit costumes for Spider-Man, Psylocke, and even other Avengers members. The update also expands skin customization options, giving you more ways to personalize your favorite heroes and stand out on the battlefield using Unstable Molecules.

Season 2.5 brings major changes to Marvel Rivals. Ultron adds aerial support, the new Arakko map changes how you move and fight, and many heroes are getting updates. You’ll need to adjust your strategies and team lineups next month! Be ready to try new tactics when Season 2.5 launches on May 30.
