Summary:
- Marvel Zombies has finally been released with an ending, suiting the dystopian setting of the series.
- However, this has also sparked conversation around a potential Marvel Zombies Season 2.
- Luckily, the Marvel TV head has already spoken about this, and here’s what we know about Marvel Zombies Season 2.

Marvel Zombies is finally out on Disney+ for MCU fans to get their dose of some zombie mayhem. The show is an adaptation of a comic book of the same name but tells a different story of the heroes we know from the MCU. Marvel Zombies was supposed to be a one-off miniseries; however, the divisive ending and hints at future MCU team-ups have left fans guessing. So, here’s what we have found out about Marvel Zombies Season 2.
Will There Be Marvel Zombies Season 2

Yes, Marvel Zombies might return for a potential second season. In a recent conversation with Comicbook.com, Brad Winderbaum, the Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation at Marvel Studios, addressed the possibility of season 2 happening.
Please, like, people have got to subscribe to Disney+ and watch this show. If that happens, they will get more. And we are excited. We’re ready.
What Will Be the Story of Season 2
Marvel Zombies is written by Robert Kirkman (Creator of Walking Dead and Invincible), with art by Sean Phillips. The comic book was released as a five-issue limited series, similar to the MCU show. However, owing to its insane popularity, the series got multiple sequels and spin-offs that explored different parts of a zombified Marvel Universe.
It is likely that MCU can follow the same path. Winderbaum further shared his thoughts on this as he stated:
What Robert Kirkman and Sean Phillips did in that original book, it kind of branched off from what Mark Millar was doing. It was just a different time in the comics, a different universe. We were branching off of 616, sorry, of the MCU version of 616.
Winderbaum also shared his excitement, revealing how he and Bryan Andrews, the showrunner and director of Marvel Zombies, “nerd out all the time” about all the things that are happening in the MCU right now. This could very well mean that we might get a Zombie Doctor Doom down the line.
How Marvel Zombies Compares to Other MCU Animated Projects
The Marvel TV head also announced that X-Men ’97 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will now be annual series, with a new season releasing each year. Both stories are set in a different universe, with different animation styles and characters, but are deeply beloved by Marvel fans.
The same can be done with Marvel Zombies, too. The series has a score of 7.4/10 on IMDb and a Tomatometer score of 64%. This is fairly good and can even bump up if season 2 of Marvel Zombies gives us more interesting story beats to explore.
