Monster Hunter Wilds Co-Op Guide
Before diving into multiplayer, you’ll need to complete a few initial steps. First, create your character, then complete the tutorial hunt against the Chatacabra in Chapter 1. You can technically jump into multiplayer after this step.
Monster Hunter Wilds includes a lobby system that supports up to 100 players at once. By default, you’re placed in a recommended lobby when you start the game, but you can choose a different one if you prefer. While you won’t see all 100 players in your game world, you can join their quests and they can join yours.
Lobby and Invitation Guide in Monster Hunter Wilds
When you first open the menu, the game will prompt you to join a lobby. You have two main options:
- Join a Recommended Lobby: It will automatically place you in popular lobbies based on your preferences.
- Perform a Lobby Search: It will customize your search based on Playstyle, Skill Level, and Language preferences.
There are different ways to invite your friends through the Lobby system, such as:
Using Lobby ID
- Click the Recommended Lobby button in the Title Menu and join the lobby.
- After you are inside the base camp, open the Communication tab.
- Find your Lobby ID in the Player List and share the 8-character ID with your friend.
- Have them use Lobby ID Search in the Title Menu.
- They can join if the lobby has space.




Using the Hunter Friend System
- Locate players in the Player List.
- Select their name and send a Friend Request.
- Once accepted, use Hunter Friend Search in the Title Menu to join each other’s lobbies.

- Open the Player List in the game menu.
- Find your friend’s name on the list.
- Select their name and choose Invite to Link Party.
- Once they accept, you’re ready to hunt together.
The Link Party in Monster Hunter Wilds is a new feature that lets up to 4 players team up for multiple hunts. It’s your main way to coordinate with friends and stay grouped during quests. Link Party offers you:
- Exclusive text and voice chat.
- Environment Link system.
- Immediate quest notifications.
- Easy quest joining through the Link Member Quests tab.
Crossplay Features in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds supports full crossplay between PS5, Xbox Series XS, and PC platforms. Crossplay is enabled by default and can only be toggled from the main title screen options. You can team up with fellow hunters regardless of their platform choice, once you’ve completed the initial setup. Note that while crossplay is supported, cross-save functionality is not available.
