Revealed at Capcom Spotlight June 2025, Monster Hunter Wilds is getting its second big update on June 30th, and it’s filled with stuff fans have been begging for. If you’ve been waiting for new monsters to fight, this update’s got your back with plenty of new challenges. Let’s break down what’s coming in Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 2!

Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 2

When Does Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 2 Come Out?

Title Update 2 drops on June 30th, 2025. This update is totally free, just like the first one. Capcom’s keeping their word about regular content drops to keep things interesting.

New Monsters in Title Update 2

There will be two new monsters to fight in Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 2:

Lagiacrus

As teased for weeks, fan-favorite and long-awaited Lagiacrus is finally returning in Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 2. People are pretty hyped about its return, because this monster has been absent since Monster Hunter Generations. Now, it’s back and is just as scary as you remember. Never fought Lagiacrus before? You’re in for a tough time. This huge electric beast can literally boil the water around it with its attacks. You’ll fight it mostly on land, but here’s the cool part – some fights actually go underwater.

Now, when you’re underwater, you can’t swing your weapon around like normal, but don’t worry. You can still hurt it, you just have to wait for the right moment to strike. You will need to be Hunter Rank 31 to fight this monster. Plus, you must finish the “A World Turned Upside Down” main quest and the “Forest Doshaguma” side quest first. Beat it, and you can make some really nice armor for you and your Palico.

Seregios

The second new monster is Seregios, a golden flying dragon that’s all about speed and air attacks. It will shoot these sharp scales that make you really bleed, so bring some meals before you fight it. Same deal as Lagiacrus, you need Hunter Rank 31 and have to clear the “A World Turned Upside Down” main quest first.

Both monsters also get Tempered versions at 8-star difficulty. You can tackle these once you hit Hunter Rank 41 and beat the regular versions first.

Layered Weapons

Finally, what players have been asking for, Layered Weapons, is coming to the game. Layered Weapons let you make any weapon look like another weapon while keeping all the good stats from the original. Love how one sword looks, but need the damage from a different one? Now you can have both.

To unlock a weapon’s look for layering, you need to craft the final version in that weapon tree. For Artian Weapons, you’ll need to max out a Rarity 8 version. The system even lets you use the old look of weapons that change appearance when you upgrade them.

Your Palico can get layered weapons too if you make their high-rank versions. This feature makes you want to try different weapon trees and craft more gear, which adds a lot more to do.

Quality of Life Improvements

  • The update has some smaller changes that are still pretty nice. You can now switch your handler from Alma to Eric after you beat the Lagiacrus mission. Not a huge deal, but options are good, right?
  • There is also a new support hunter named Mina who uses Sword & Shield. But more importantly, you can now pick which support hunters come with you on quests instead of getting random ones.
  • Photo Mode got some upgrades, too. New effects for brightness and filters, plus you can hide your handler, Palico, or Seikret from photos. If you like taking screenshots of your hunts, these changes are pretty useful.

They’re also fixing some little things that can actually be frustrating, such as an option to turn off glowing armor effects from buffs, improved Seikret usability, and additional options for stats and profile features. These are simple changes that could significantly enhance the overall experience in Monster Hunter Wilds, which is great!

Seasonal Events and Special Challenges

The Seasonal Event is also expected to arrive, of course, with new event quests and special rewards. The Festival of Accord: Flamefete is running from July 23rd to August 6th, 2025. It’s summer-themed and brings new armor, gestures, and decorations you can only get during the event. The Grand Hub gets a complete makeover too, so it’s worth checking out.

Arch-Tempered Uth Duna shows up July 30th and sticks around until August 20th. This is a super hard version that needs Hunter Rank 50 or higher. Beat it and you get materials for exclusive Uth Duna γ armor sets for you and your Palico.

There is also a Fender guitar collaboration from August 27th to September 24th. You can get a special gesture that lets you play air guitar with the Monster Hunter Rathalos Telecaster. It’s for Monster Hunter’s 20th anniversary, and you can actually buy the real guitar if you want.

What’s Coming Next: Free Title Update 3

Free Title Update 3 is planned for late September, so we’re only a few months away from more stuff. Capcom hasn’t said what’s in it yet, but if it’s like Update 2, we’ll probably get more monsters, armor, and improvements. The regular updates show Capcom wants to keep Monster Hunter Wilds fresh with new content every few months.

The end of June can’t get here fast enough. Make sure your gear’s ready because Lagiacrus and the new Arch-Tempered monster won’t go down easily. And if you’ve been waiting to make your weapons look awesome without losing damage, layered weapons have got you covered!
