New Spotify Update Makes It Easier to Discover New Music: All The New Features

Spotify is undoubtedly the most popular phone you can buy right now. The app is always introducing new features, and this time is no different. With the latest update, finding new songs on the app is easier than before. The company has made several changes, and here’s everything you need to know about it.

1. Improved Queue Button

In a blog post, Spotify has revealed all the changes it is making to the app to make music discovery easier. For starters, the Queue feature has been improved for Spotify Premium users with a fresh design. In the latest Spotify update, when you press the queue button. It will show controls like Shuffle, Smart Shuffle, Repeat, and Sleep Timer.

And once the songs in your queue end, you can see which songs Spotify is recommending next. Furthermore, if you want more control over your songs, you can turn off the Autoplay or Smart Shuffle feature.

2. Smart Shuffle Feature

And if you are wondering what Smart Shuffle is? Well, it’s a feature that Spotify introduced last year that provides personalized recommendations based on the vibe of your original playlist. This ensures that you don’t groove to the same songs again and again.

The songs suggested by Spotify will have a sparkle icon next to them. Furthermore, if you don’t like a recommendation, you can hit minus to ignore the song.

3. Hide Button and Snooze Button

Coming back to the changes, there’s a bigger hide button when you play a song. This way, you can hide a song that you don’t want to listen to in a playlist. If you don’t want to hide a song permanently, there’s also a snooze button that will do so for 30 days in the new Spotify update.

4. New Create Button

Another new addition is the “Create” button with a + icon next to it, added in the latest Spotify update. Tapping on this button opens up a bunch of options. You can create a regular playlist, a collaborative playlist, join a blend, open Spotify Jam, or use AI to create a playlist for you. That being said, here’s how to use the new AI Playlist.

5. Customize Your Playlist

Last but not least is the ability to customize your playlist. The streaming app now lets you add a personal touch to your playlist. There a new Add, Edit, and Sort buttons at the top of the playlist.

As the name suggests, it lets you do the following tasks:

  • Add or delete songs
  • Rearrange tracks
  • Edit titles to add a custom cover image

6. Create a Playlist from Liked Songs

Finally, if you are like me, who adds every song to the liked songs section, there is good news for you. You can create an individual playlist from these songs by categorizing them into different genres.

Here’s how to use the feature:

  1. Go to the Your Library tab and open the Liked Songs section
  2. Select the songs that you wish to create a playlist from.
  3. Give a title to your playlist and hit the create button.

How To Create an AI Playlist on Spotify

  1. Tap on the Create icon indicated by the + button.
  2. Select the AI Playlist option and enter a prompt. For example, something like “Afrobeat tracks to heat the dance floor” or “2000s reggaeton for soaking up the sun” could work.
  3. Wait for Spotify to generate the playlist. You can then press the Create button to save this playlist to your library.

The feature is currently available in 40 countries such as the US, UK, and more. Another requirement is that you need to be a Spotify Premium user to use this feature. It works best for genre, artist, or mood-based requests. Furthermore, animals, activities, movie characters, colors, or emoji-based requests are accepted too.

How To Snooze Songs on Spotify

Hate that one song that Spotify keeps adding to your playlists? Well, instead of hiding that song permanently, you can now snooze.

This will remove it from your recommendations, playlists, and library for 30 days. Unlike the hide feature, this temporarily removes the song from your recommendations

Here’s how to use the feature:

  1. Go to any playlist and tap the three-dot menu next to the song you wish to hide.
  2. Select the option Hide in this playlist.
  3. Spotify will show a prompt and remove the song from the playlist.
  4. Now, press the Don’t suggest the song everywhere for 30 days to snooze it.

Do note that this only temporarily removes the songs from your recommendations. Furthermore, you first need to hide the song in order to snooze it.
