After months of waiting and delay, the much-awaited successor to the Nintendo Switch will finally go on sale. The Nintendo Switch 2 will be available for sale starting June 5, 2025, at online as well as offline retailers. While there is excitement among fans, Nintendo is bracing the console to go out of stock on day one.

The Nintendo Switch 2, which has been available for pre-order since April, will go on sale from June 5. Most people have listed the handheld as out of stock since there have been a lot of pre-orders.

Furthermore, Nintendo has also started giving sellers “out of stock” signs before the sale even begins. Since there are likely to be limited quantities available, Nintendo wants consumers to be fully aware.

However, some retailers such as Best Buy and GameStop will have limited in-store stocks on launch day. Similarly, Walmart will also start selling the console at midnight, apart from select regions in the Pacific, Mountain, and Hawaii for in-store purchases.

Restocks for the console will also be available from June 6 until supplies last. If you have a Costco membership, you can get the Mario Kart Bundle for the Nintendo Switch 2. This includes a 12-month membership to Nintendo Online, although there’s no clarity on whether the bundle will be sold online or will be exclusive to stores.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will be available globally for a price of $449 and $499 for the Mario Kart Bundle. You can purchase it via the official website, apart from retailers like Gamestop, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart.

Interestingly, Amazon remains the only retailer not to list the Nintendo Switch 2. The e-commerce website also did not take pre-orders for the console.

What Upgrades Does The Switch 2 Offer?

The Nintendo Switch 2 comes with a bigger 7.9-inch 1080p display with a smoother 120Hz refresh rate. It also has new Joy Cons 2 that can detach magnetically and can be used as a mouse.

The Switch 2 has a new C button that can fire up Game Chat for socializing with your friends. Furthermore, there’s Gameshare to locally share your game with your friend.

Another major upgrade is the 4K output, so the Switch 2 so you can game at 4K at 60 FPS in docked mode. The Switch 2 uses a new microSD Express card, meaning not compatible with the original Switch cards.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has plenty of exciting titles in the pipeline, including Cyberpunk 2077 and Elden Ring: Nightreign. If you are looking for a powerful handheld, the Switch 2 is the way to go.
