Now Assign Any Control to Action Button With iOS 18

The Action Button was introduced with the launch of iPhone 15 Pro models but is now standard across the iPhone 16 series. Earlier, the Action Button could be set to launch different shortcuts. But the number of controls available was limited. Now, iOS 18 has brought new features and capabilities to iPhone 16’s Action buttons.

The Action button forever replaced the iconic mute switch bringing a new configurable button. You select and assign from a given set of controls to the Action button like flashlight, focus modes, etc. But there are so many controls available in the Control Center that one may want to use. What about them?

Now with iOS 18, you can assign any control available in the Control Center to the Action button using the Controls option. Here’s how it works:

  1. Go to Settings > Action Button.
  2. Scroll through the actions and select Choose a Control.
  3. Select a control from the list of all available controls in the Control Center.

In case you are using Action button for the first time, we have a guide on how to set it up too.

See? The Control Center has received a makeover too with new controls finding their way to the menu. Note that the feature is not limited to the iPhone 16 series only. You will find the new Choose a Control option in iPhone 15 Pro models also.

And that’s it, folks.
