One Piece Episode 1131 Recap

One Piece Episode 1131 continued Kuma’s flashback and focused on his life in the Sorbet Kingdom with Ginny. The episode jumped ahead 8 years, where we see a now young Kuma and Ginny living peacefully in a church. Here, Kuma is seen using his Devil Fruit powers to relieve the pain and illness of Sorbet Kingdom’s old citizens. Ginny is not happy with how often Kuma is doing this, as it affects his health greatly and almost makes him bedridden.

The citizens then explain that due to the tributes they have to pay to the Celestial Dragon, they have no money to give Kuma for his selfless service. They explain that if they are unable to pay the tribute, the cruel ruler of the Sorbet Kingdom, Bekori, will put them in jail, which is why they need to be in good health to continue working.

After the people leave, Kuma absorbs all the pain that he took from them, making him incredibly weak. Ginny then nursed him back to health and promised that she would make him happy as his wife. But Kuma refuses to marry her because he fears that, due to his being from the Buccaneer race, he and Ginny will always be a target. The episode then shifts to Kuma fighting King Bekori’s forces after he decided to enslave half the country to lower the tribute they pay to the Celestial Dragons.

Due to their rebellion, Kuma, Ginny, and some of their friends were imprisoned. It is then revealed that Bekori’s plan was foiled as Ginny and Kuma were rescued by Emporio Invankov and Monkey D. Dragon. The two likely aligned with Dragon to form the Revolutionary Army following this incident. The episode ends in tragedy as Ginny is captured again by the World Government.
