One UI 6.1 - Where to Find and Use Video Call Effects

Can’t find the video call effects menu anymore on your Samsung Galaxy phones while on a call? One UI 6.1 update has shifted things around making it difficult for some users to find where the video call effects screen is. Some of my friends thought the video call effect feature had disappeared. However, Samsung has made it easier to access by moving it to the Quick Panels screen.

You can access the video call effects menu from the Quick Panels screen only when you are on a live video call. Otherwise, the menu is kept hidden to keep it uncluttered.

Note: The video call customization menu itself isn’t new. It was unveiled with One UI 3.1, however, the location has changed with One UI 6.1 making it more accessible.

How to Use Video Call Effects in One UI 6.1

Here is how to access and use video call effects on Samsung Galaxy phones.

  1. Open any app that supports video calling like WhatsApp or Telegram.
  2. Make a call to someone and wait for them to pick up the call.
  3. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Panels in a limited fashion. Swipe down again to access the full Quick Panels menu.
  4. Tap on the Video Call Effects button at the top of the screen to access settings.
  5. Here, you can change the background, apply face effects, change color tone, and use automatic framing. You can also access settings by tapping the cog icon.

And that’s it, folks.
