Samsung TV One UI Update

The South Korean giant announced at the 2024 Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) that One UI would be coming to its smart TVs. Samsung is now pushing the One UI update to its 2023 smart TV lineup.

The update is built on the new Tizen 8.0 operating system, delivering a fresh design, new features, and tighter integration with Samsung’s ecosystem of devices. The team at SamMobile has already received the update on their Samsung S90C OLED TV. However, Samsung hasn’t yet provided specifics regarding which other models are in line to receive it.

We also checked our Samsung smart TV, but no update is available yet. One thing we can count on is that Samsung will extend the same seven years of software updates to its smart TVs just like it does with its Galaxy smartphones. If you’re eager to see if the update is available for your TV, navigate to All Settings > Support > Software Update and tap Update Now.

What’s New in One UI for Samsung TVs

Samsung’s One UI brings a more phone-like feel to its smart TVs, with enhancements that make the interface smoother and more familiar. Here are the key new features:

  • For You, Live, and Apps Tabs: A cleaner home screen that offers personalized content recommendations and quick access to your favorite apps.
  • Fresh Icons and Layout: The look of Bixby, Gallery, Samsung Internet, and SmartThings apps now aligns more closely with the One UI design from Galaxy smartphones.
  • Watch Later Feature: Save content to a dedicated list so you can come back and watch it whenever you’re ready.
  • Samsung Daily+ Hub: A lifestyle feature offering curated experiences related to fitness, entertainment, and more.
  • Multi Control: Manage multiple Samsung devices signed in with the same account using a single keyboard and mouse.
  • Workout Tracking: If you’ve paired a Galaxy Watch, real-time stats like heart rate and calories burned will now show up directly on the TV screen.
  • Enhanced Game Bar: Gamers can quickly tweak settings using the updated Game Bar without disrupting their gameplay.
  • IoT Control via SmartThings: You can now control IoT cameras connected to your TV straight from the SmartThings app on your phone.
  • Modernized Settings Bar: The bottom settings bar has a sleek, rounded look with updated icons. Even the pop-up menus for features like Bluetooth, Sound Output, and Q-Symphony have been visually revamped to be more user-friendly.

With this update, Samsung is taking a significant step toward unifying the user experience across devices. Whether you’re switching from your smartphone to the TV or syncing your fitness tracker, the interface will feel seamless and interconnected.

Keep an eye out for this update if you own a 2023 Samsung TV. Looking ahead, we hope Samsung will continue adding new features letting users control TV settings from a Galaxy Watch, receive phone notifications on the TV, customize home screen widgets, or display battery levels for connected devices.
