  • The upcoming OnePlus 13T will feature a new “Quick Key”, replacing the alert slider.
  • The button will be located on the left side of the phone.
  • It may offer sound mode switching, customizable shortcuts, and a yet-to-be-revealed special function.

Recently, OnePlus confirmed it’s retiring its iconic alert slider. In its place, the company is introducing a new action key, similar to what we’ve seen on iPhones. This new button, called the Quick Key, will debut on the upcoming OnePlus 13T (aka the OnePlus 13 Mini).

The news was shared by Li Jie Louis, President of OnePlus China, in a post on Weibo, the Chinese microblogging site. He posted a teaser image showing the new button slightly protruding from the side of the phone. The image also confirms a completely flat front display.

In the same post, he described the phone as a “small and powerful” small-screen king, and praised it as a “small and beautiful” flat-screen device.

OnePlus 13T Quick Key Features: What We Know So Far

According to the post, the new Quick Key on the OnePlus 13T is expected to offer the following features:

  • Switch between Silent, Vibrate, and Ring modes, just like the traditional alert slider.
  • Support for custom functions that can “facilitate easy switching of choices in a series of operations.” Li Jie Louis describes this feature as “very practical.” While the exact details remain unclear, it could potentially let users toggle the flashlight, launch specific apps, activate shortcuts, and more.
  • An undisclosed special function that OnePlus says has been integrated into the button. The company hasn’t revealed what it does yet. Could it be something like Nothing’s AI-powered Essential Space? We can only guess for now.

OnePlus 13T Specs (Expected)

The OnePlus 13T is rumored to feature a flat AMOLED display and a compact form factor. Based on leaks so far, it will come with a 6.31-inch panel that supports a 120Hz refresh rate.

It is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. On the software side, it will run OxygenOS 15 globally and ColorOS 15 in China, both based on Android 15.

In terms of cameras, the phone may include a dual 50MP setup on the rear, with a main sensor featuring OIS and a 2x telephoto lens for optical zoom.

Early renders suggest the design may resemble the back of an iPhone 16. However, leaks have been conflicting. Recent ones show a vertical pill-shaped camera module, while older ones hinted at a horizontal layout.

In one of his previous Weibo posts, Li Jie Louis revealed that the OnePlus 13T will come with a 6,000+ mAh Glacier battery and support 80W fast charging. A recent leak from tipster DigitalChatStation claims the actual battery capacity could be around 6,200mAh.

This will be a silicon-carbon battery, the same advanced technology used in the OnePlus 13 and 13R. It allows for greater energy density while keeping the battery size and weight in check.

Mr Louis also mentioned that the device weighs just 185 grams, which makes it a rare combination of being compact and lightweight while still packing a massive battery.

When Is the OnePlus 13T Launching?

The OnePlus 13T is confirmed to launch in April 2025 in China, although the exact date has not yet been announced. Global launch details will be shared at a later stage, and the phone may launch under a different name, possibly as the OnePlus 13 Mini.

It is expected to compete with other compact flagship devices like the iPhone 16e and Pixel 9a, offering a premium experience in a smaller form factor.
