- The Oppo Find N5 touted as the thinnest foldable with a large battery and powerful processor, will likely have a limited release, possibly excluding the US and Indian markets.

If you have been eagerly waiting for a new OnePlus foldable phone in 2025, we have some bad news for you. OnePlus Open 2, the company’s highly anticipated flagship foldable smartphone won’t launch this year.
OnePlus Open Product Manager Vale G confirmed in a post that the company does not have any plans to introduce a foldable phone in 2025. Widely anticipated to be a rebrand of the Oppo Find N5, the OnePlus Open 2 would have been a successor to the OnePlus Open from 2023. While the company did launch the OnePlus Open Apex Edition last year, it only offered incremental upgrades.
Instead, OnePlus hopes that its sister company Oppo will “lead in the foldable segment” with its upcoming Find N5. Teased as the thinnest foldable phone in the world, it has a barely visible crease. Despite being just 8.93mm thick, the phone will pack a massive 5,600mAh battery.
Will Continue Working On Foldables in the Future
OnePlus has reiterated that its first foldable phone, the OnePlus Open will continue to receive software updates, security patches, and after-sales support. Furthermore, it was announced they will continue working on foldables in the future and its “decision to pause on foldables for this generation” is a temporary one.

Moreover, the company says it will “incorporate breakthroughs” from the Oppo Find N5 into its “future products”. The Oppo Find N5 is set to launch on February 20, 2025, and will be the first foldable to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Moreover, the Find N5 will have a 3D titanium alloy hinge and will be the first foldable with an IPX9 rating for water resistance.
Oppo Find N5 May Not Have Same Launch Availability as OnePlus Open 2
While OnePlus states that “This is not a step back, it’s a recalibration”, Oppo Find N5 is unlikely to have the same global availability as the OnePlus Open 2. According to tipster Yogesh Brar, the Find N5 will likely be released in EU and South Asian markets apart from China.
