Apparently, many websites are using slideshows for list-based articles. Now although there is nothing wrong with slideshows when done right, most publishers use it to get more impressions per page, leading to more ads.
But this is a nightmare from the audience point of view. Refreshing each page to see the next slide, not only slow down your browsing speed but also disrupt the reading experience.
Usually, I jump to the next search result, if I see any slideshow on the website. But sometimes this is not an option. So if you are like me, who hate slide shows, then you can use this web app to de-slide it.
See the following animated gif, to see how it work.
The website supports more than 2k sites including the official slideshow website as well. The author of the app, suggests creating a Bookmarklet of deslide, for one-click access.
So, to create a bookmark, go to deslide official page (link at the bottom of the article), and then drag and drop the ‘deslide’ Bookmarklet on the homepage on the browser bookmark area (press CTRL+B if not visible.) And that’s it. Next time you come across a slideshow simply click on the Deslide Bookmarklet, and it’ll launch all the slides in the new tab.
Or you can always do it old fashion way, i.e. copy-paste the URL of the website that has the slide show to the Deslide page.
