But before you get started, find out the call recording laws are in your country, because, You are not NSA, right? Call recording laws are different in each country. For instance.

In some country, like Italy, it’s ok to record a phone call, legally and can be used as evidence in court, even if the other party is unaware of being recorded, provided that the recording party takes part of the conversation

While if you are living in the US, you have to get the consent of the other party (remember the customer care calls)

And in country like India the laws are still not clear, it depends on the circumstance

So, it’s better to contact a lawyer, If you are going to use these recording for a legal purpose.

2. Inline Recording Device

If you are a reporter or journalist and need a permanent solution, then you can use special devices to record your calls called Inline recording devices. For instance – you can get Forus FSV-U2 Cell Phone Call Recorder or RecorderGear PR200  from Amazon. They work for both iOS and Android bBut can cost your $100 of dollars. So, I won’t recommend you go for this option

3. Recordator

Another popular way to record your phone calls is by using  3-way calling services like recordator. There are many similar services like recordingline, SecureSpeak etc. But the reason, I recommend Recordator is -one, this is the only service, I could find that supports my country — India and other smaller countries. And two, it gives you 10 free mins to try it. No credit card info required.

How does it work?

This service sits between caller and recipient. If you want to call someone, you first call – recordator. And then recordator connects your call to your recipient. And since it’s in the between it can record call both sides.

1. Create a free account and sign in.

2. Enter the phone number you want to call or record. Now, here you get two options

2.1 If you want, recordator number to appear as a caller ID, go with the first method

2.2 If you want your number to appear on the caller ID then use the second method

Note: The call made from this service is not an internet calling but regular voice call. So, the audio quality is pretty good. To check the audio recording, watch the video at the beginning of this article.  Another thing to notice here is, if you were in the US, you get a toll free number. But outside the US, you’ll have to bear international charges,

Advantage

It’s platform independent, i.e. it works for landline, and mobile both. Audio quality is good too.

Disadvantage

The price is bit higher, especially, when we factor in the international charges.

4. Record Phone call using Android App

So, if you have a Samsung or Xiaomi phones, then there might already have a  build in call recorder. you don’t have to download any third party apps.

But, if you are on stock Android, I suggest going for Automatic call recorder. This is by far the most popular app in Play Store and should work right out of the box for most people. Simply install the app and it’ll record both incoming and outgoing call. But if you want cloud integration or blacklist some numbers there is an option to configure it.

5. Record Phone call using iPhone App

Now, when it comes to iPhone, like always, that don’t allow third party apps to record phone calls. So, apps like automatic call recorder won’t be on iPhone. But, they, have their own method, you have to call to another number and then merge the call. Just like we saw in recordator service.

So, for iPhone, you can use a Tapeacall for it cost 7$ per year. But there is also a free lite version, that will let you listen to 60 sec of playback. If the app is not available in your country, you can sideload it by changing your country in the app store settings.

And the way it works is quite similar, to recordator app the only diff is,

  1. Recordator works is cross platform so, it’ll work for any number whereas tapeacall will only work for iOS
  2. Tapeacall is, much cheaper, it’ll cost just $7 for each year, with unlimited recording, whereas recordator cost the same for just 30 mins.

The audio quality you are going to get is same almost on same since they are using the same technology.
