Demonology is a ghost-hunting game on Roblox where your job is to identify what type of ghost is haunting a location before it hunts you down. If you are coming from games like Phasmophobia, the structure will feel familiar, but Demonology has enough differences to trip up new players. Here is a Demonology Beginner guide that tells everything you need to know to get started.
Understand Your Playstyle First
Before jumping into a job, decide whether you prefer playing aggressively or cautiously. Aggressive players tend to push for evidence quickly and take risks getting close to the ghost. Cautious players take their time, use equipment carefully, and prioritise survival over speed. Your playstyle should influence whether you go in solo or with a team, since teamwork opens up options for covering multiple rooms at once and coordinating evidence gathering far more efficiently than solo play allows.
Choose Your Starting Equipment Wisely
You only have a limited number of item slots at the start so pick equipment that covers the most ground. A solid starting loadout is the Video Camera, Thermometer, and EMF Meter. The Video Camera is particularly useful because it can reveal Ghost Orbs as evidence, immediately telling you which room the ghost is in without having to sweep the entire map. If Ghost Orbs are not one of the evidence types for that ghost you will need to fall back on the Thermometer, which identifies the ghost room through temperature drops.

Find the Ghost Room Early
Locating the ghost room as fast as possible is the most important thing you can do at the start of a job. Use the Thermometer to scan rooms for cold spots and keep an eye out for orbs through the Video Camera. Once you find the room, set up your remaining equipment there and focus your investigation.

Managing Energy and Candles
Your energy level directly affects how often ghost hunts occur. The lower your energy drops the more likely the ghost is to start hunting, so keeping it topped up is important. Candles reduce your energy drain while lit, making them more valuable than most new players realise. Pick up a Lighter from the equipment shop and keep candles lit in the ghost room and nearby areas throughout the job.

Identifying the Ghost
Every ghost in Demonology has three pieces of evidence that confirm its type. The main tools for gathering evidence are the EMF Meter, Thermometer, Spirit Box, Video Camera, ESG Device, Easel, and the Ghost Writing Book. Each ghost responds to a different combination of these so narrowing down which tools are getting readings is how you work toward a final identification. Pay attention to ghost behaviour as well since factors like movement speed, who it targets, and how aggressive it is can all point you toward the right answer even before you have all three pieces of evidence confirmed.

If you are new and still learning the layout of different maps, set the difficulty to Custom and turn off Ghost Hunts before going in. You will earn less money, but you can explore hiding spots, learn room layouts, and practice using equipment without the risk of being caught off guard during a hunt. Once you are comfortable with a map, switch back to a standard difficulty to start earning proper rewards. For more guides, check out our Demonology Wiki.
