The simple answer is: Yes, RuneScape Dragonwilds will be coming to PS5 and Xbox consoles – but not right away. Currently, the game is only available on PC through Steam Early Access for $29.99. Console players will need to wait a bit longer, but there’s good news on the horizon.
When Will RuneScape Dragonwilds Release on PS5 and Xbox?
According to Jagex’s senior community manager, known as Mod Doom, RuneScape Dragonwilds is planned for a console release when the game fully launches, which is expected to be around Winter 2026.
In an interview with Jake Lucky, Mod Doom stated: “Hopefully, by winter 2026, players will be able to get it fully launched, and you can get your friends in on console as well.“
The team hasn’t given an exact date because they don’t want to make promises they can’t keep. As Mod Doom explained: “We want to do this thing right and I know that players will be patient and understand if we say look, we don’t wanna screw this up.”
Why Such a Long Wait?
The game needs time to be finished and properly tested. Right now, it’s in early access on PC, which means it’s still being developed and improved based on player feedback. Making games work well on consoles takes extra time and work. The developers want to make sure the game runs smoothly and is fully complete before releasing it on PS5 and Xbox. However, there’s no word yet on whether RuneScape Dragonwilds will come to other platforms like Nintendo Switch or Mac.
For now, if you want to play the game, you’ll need a Windows PC. Console players will have to wait until the full release, which is planned for winter 2026.
