After the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series in January, the company is gearing up to release its next flagship phone. At the end of the Galaxy Unpacked event, the South Korean giant took inspiration from Apple and showcased “one more thing”, the Galaxy S25 Edge. While it did not reveal any specifications or launch date, the S25 Edge is tipped to be the slimmest phone in the company’s lineup. A new report has now revealed the details of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge launch date and when it could go on sale.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Launch Date Revealed, Will Debut in Online Event

According to a report by Seoul Economic Daily, a Korean newspaper, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will launch in an online Galaxy Unpacked event. This event will take place on April 16 and the Galaxy S25 Edge will go on sale from May.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will be available in select markets in Black, Light, and Silver color options. Furthermore, the report states the company will manufacture limited quantities initially, 40,000 units to be precise. This is less than 1 percent of the total phones that Samsung produces per month.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is rumored (Geekbench scores leaked) to be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite similar to the flagship S25 Ultra. It will be the thinnest phone in the S25 series measuring at just 6.4mm. It will also be the first time that there is a fourth model in the S series after the launch of the S10 series in 2019.

Despite the Edge branding, the phone will have a flat display on the front instead of a curved one. The Edge refers to the “innovative and new technology” as described by Noh Tae-moon, President of Samsung Electronics’ MX Business Division. The phone will sport a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED display and 12GB of RAM.

It will have the same 200-megapixel primary camera from the S25 Ultra and a 12-megapixel ultrawide angle sensor. However, due to its thinner design, it will have a 3,900mAh battery, smaller than even the Samsung Galaxy S25.

Meanwhile, Samsung’s archrival, Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone 17 Air. Leaks and specs of the iPhone 17 Air have been pouring in for some time now. Apple’s slim version of the flagship is rumored to be just 6.25mm thick, less than the Galaxy S25 Edge. The price tag was recently revealed.

It will be interesting to see how Samsung and Apple’s bet on a slim variant plays out.
