  • A new leak has revealed that Samsung could opt for a new chipset with the Galaxy S25 FE.
  • Instead of the Exynos 2400e, the company could opt for MediaTek Dimensity 9400.
  • This will make it the most powerful FE series phone to date.

While Samsung plans to launch the S25 Edge tomorrow, the company is also working on the fifth model in the S25 series. The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE will be the cheapest model in the S25 lineup. The FE series is known for offering flagship features at a mid-range price, making it popular among buyers. Samsung is likely to spice up things by using a completely new chipset this year, and no, it’s not Exynos.

Samsung Galaxy S25 FE Could Use MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Chipset

According to a report by Notebookcheck, Samsung is planning to ditch the Exynos chipset for the S25 FE. Previously rumored to use the Exynos 2400e, the company now wants to opt for the Dimensity 9400.

If this rumor turns out to be true, it will be the most powerful FE series phone from Samsung to date. The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 is a competitor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite, though, which is on a whole different level.

This is just a backup plan as the Exynos 2400e still remains the top choice for Samsung. Given that the FE series usually launches at the end of the year, it should be enough time for Samsung to get some clarity.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 is a much better choice than Samsung’s own chip. However, using the Exynos 2400e would be more economically viable for Samsung, bringing it some much-needed revenue.

Also, the MediaTek chipset is fabbed on TSMC’s foundry instead of Samsung’s foundry. This makes it more expensive to use than Samsung’s chipset.

Last year’s Samsung Galaxy S24 FE made its debut with the Exynos 2400e. Using the same chip as last year would make it harder for the South Korean giant to market the phone.

Also, the Exynos 2400e is likely to be used in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE. Furthermore, Samsung’s foundry has cut down its production in half due to quality issues.

With all these hiccups, it only makes sense for the company to go with the MediaTek offering. Now, the only thing that remains is whether Samsung will bear the extra cost or pass it on to consumers.
