- Samsung is planning to upgrade its camera sensor
- The Base S26 will have a new sensor for the main camera.
- It will replace the old ISOCELL GN3 sensor, which has been used since the Galaxy S23.
You might have noticed that Samsung has been using the same sensor in its camera since the Galaxy S23. Although the camera performance has been fabulous with its software, it still needed an upgrade in its hardware.

As per the news from the Galaxy Club, Samsung is working on bringing a new sensor to the upcoming base S26. It will be the same 50MP Camera, but the sensor will be new.
There is no light on what exact sensor is going to be used, but it is sure that it will be from the ISOCELL GN Family. This will be a noticeable jump in everyday photography, even if the megapixel count stays the same.
What the New Camera Sensor Means for You?
A new sensor means better image processing and improved low-light performance. Photos will have more detail, sharper focus, and better color accuracy, especially in challenging lighting conditions.
And since Samsung likes to push AI features, a better sensor could work hand-in-hand with AI to enhance scene detection and image optimization.
The Galaxy S26 is not just getting a new camera sensor but also the return of the Exynos processor in some regions like Europe and India. While the U.S. models are expected to stick with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Elite. There is also news that the Samsung Galaxy S26 May Get a Silicon-Carbon Battery.
The S26 series will debut in about eight months, so there might be more to it that is yet to be revealed. Stay tuned for more updates and share your views about this on our X.
