How to Share Highlighted Text for Any Web Page on Chrome

With the recent updates, Google has started to highlight text based on your search query. It basically highlights what it thinks is the best answer to your search query so you might not have to read the whole article. Similarly, you can also share only a part of the text with anyone you like but that’s not immediately evident and most users don’t know-how. Here’s how to share the highlighted text for any web page on Chrome.
Update: Chrome now allows you to share highlighted text by default. Simply right-click and choose ‘Copy link to highlight

Use Highlight Tool for Chrome (Extension)

We’re going to use a Chrome extension called Link to Text Fragment, which lets you easily highlight any text and share it selectively with a specific link. You can use it on any Chromium-based browsers without a hassle. This feature also comes in handy when you have a large document.

1. Go to the Chrome Web Store and install the Link to Text Fragment extension.

2. Click on Add extension when prompted at the top of the tab to give permission to install extension in Chrome.

3. A new icon denoting the extension will appear in the extensions tab on the top right corner of the screen.

4. Lastly, select any piece of text on any webpage and right-click to open the context menu. At the bottom, click on Copy Link to Selected Text option. This will create a shareable link to the specific text.

5. You will also see a highlight preview (in yellow background). If you’re satisfied with the selected text, simply paste the link in any messaging, email, or social media app that you want to share it on.
